About This Pub
Ah, The Standing Order – it's one of those reliable Wetherspoon haunts that you can always count on for a cheeky pint without breaking the bank. Tucked away in a beautifully preserved old bank building right in the heart of Derby, it has this wonderful mix of history and hustle that really sets the scene. I love how they keep the original features intact; it gives the place a unique character that makes every visit feel a bit special. The beers are spot on and at such good prices, and if you're after something to nibble on, the food's straightforward and does the job without costing a fortune. But, and there's always a but, isn't there? It can getproper busy, and that's when things might fall short – like servers seeming a tad overwhelmed, leading to meals turning up less than piping hot after a longer wait than you'd hope. Still, if you savvy up and use the app to order, it sorts out a lot of the hassle. All in all, it's a solid choice for a casual get-together with friends; just keep your expectations in check for the service side, and you'll have a grand time.

Always busy with a good buzz about the place - the building was an old bank and still retains many of its old interesting features. Serves good beers at excellent prices. With the budget food you get what you pay for but you cannot complain for the price!
Chefs seemed to be doing their jobs great, putting food out at a good speed but the servers looked like they had no idea what they were doing. There was orders of food building up on the counter getting cold and all 3 of us received our food barely warm after waiting too long. It wasn't very busy either
We just stopped here when we visited Derby. It was easily spotted on the main street near to the Cathedral. Was packed at that time but we could still find the table as they have quite plenty of tables. We ordered it through the app and they just served it quite fast. There was a new menu that we tried, the prawn menu one and it was amazing. Good place to stop in Derby.

Called in yesterday for lunch, it was very busy! After asking about the long queue, an employee called Amy said I'd be quicker ordering on the app, which she then proceeded, with GREAT patience, to show me how to install and order on it. We had a small pizza, bowl of chips and ramen noodles. My daughter said the pizza was lovely, very cheesy, the chips were crispy and fluffy, and the ramen noodles were some of the best I've had!
A beautiful building, well laid out and tasteful. I'd definitely go back.
I recently had the pleasure of dining at Wetherspoon's The Standing Order in Derby, and it was a fantastic experience from start to finish. Housed in a beautifully restored former bank building on Iron Gate, this pub effortlessly combines historical charm with modern convenience.
One of the highlights of my visit was the gourmet sirloin steak. It was cooked to perfection, tender, and bursting with flavour. The fact that such a delicious meal was also incredibly affordable made it even more impressive. The menu offers a variety of options, but the sirloin steak is a must-try.
Ordering through the app was a breeze. It made the whole process seamless and efficient, allowing me to sit back and enjoy the splendid atmosphere without any hassle. The app’s user-friendly interface and quick service really enhanced the overall dining experience.
The ambience at The Standing Order is truly unique. The interior retains many of the original features of the old bank, providing a historical backdrop that adds a touch of elegance to the casual dining experience. Whether you're there for a meal or just a drink, the atmosphere is warm and welcoming.
Overall, The Standing Order offers a delightful blend of history, great food, and excellent service. It's a gem in Derby that I would highly recommend to anyone looking for a memorable dining experience.
