About This Pub

Oh, you know, I popped into The Stag the other week and it was just lovely – it's one of those pubs that feels like a proper hidden gem in the heart of Buckinghamshire. The views from the garden are breathtaking, really making you appreciate the rolling countryside while you're tucking into some fresh, high-quality food that's all about local flavours. I had the Sunday roast, and it was spot on, with perfectly crispy roast potatoes and a good pint to wash it down. It's so family-oriented too, with a safe play area for the kids and space for dogs, which means it's great for a relaxed gathering. The team there are dead friendly, always up for a chat, and the prices feel fair for what you get. That said, it does fill up quickly, so planning ahead is a must, and if you're hoping for a late-night bite, the kitchen might have already called it a day. All in all, it's a solid choice for a proper pub experience – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, but keep those expectations balanced based on the general feedback.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The views over the Buckinghamshire countryside are absolutely stunning, making it a brilliant spot for a relaxing pint or meal outdoors.
  • The food is fresh and made with local ingredients, with standout dishes like the Sunday roast and triple-cooked chips that really hit the spot.
  • It's wonderfully family and pet-friendly, with a secure garden and children's playground, so you can bring the little ones or the dog without a worry.
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile and great service that makes you feel right at home.
  • Drinks are fairly priced, and there's a cosy atmosphere that makes it perfect for community events or a casual catch-up with mates.
Cons
  • It can get quite busy, especially on weekends or during peak times, so you might need to book ahead to avoid disappointment.
  • The kitchen hours are a bit limited, closing early on some days, which could be a downside if you're after a late dinner.
  • While recent reviews are glowing, the overall rating sits at 4.2, suggesting that not every visit might live up to the hype for everyone.

I recently had the pleasure of attending one of the Senior Lunches at The Stag pub, hosted by Radfield Home Care, and I must say it was an absolutely delightful experience from start to finish. From the moment we made the first contact, the communication was exceptional. The team at The Stag took the time to listen to suggestions and ensure that the menu for the senior lunch would be something everyone would enjoy. They truly went above and beyond to make sure the event was well-organised and welcoming. The staff at The Stag were outstanding. They were not only incredibly friendly and helpful but also made sure that everyone felt comfortable and cared for throughout the meal. Their warm and approachable demeanor really added to the overall positive experience, creating an atmosphere that was both relaxed and inviting. As for the food, it was absolutely delicious! I opted for the classic ham, egg, and chips, and I couldn’t have been more pleased. The ham was tender, the eggs cooked to perfection, and the chips were crispy and golden, providing the perfect balance of crunch and flavor. The portion was generous, leaving everyone at the table satisfied and happy. To finish off the meal, I indulged in the sticky toffee pudding, and it was divine! Warm, gooey, and comforting, it was the perfect way to end the meal on a sweet note. The combination of the rich toffee sauce and soft sponge was absolutely scrumptious. Overall, The Stag pub provided an exceptional dining experience, and I’m already looking forward to the next Senior Lunch. From the food to the service to the welcoming atmosphere, everything was top-notch, making it a truly enjoyable outing. If you’re looking for a place that offers great food, excellent service, and a warm environment, I highly recommend The Stag! Join us for the Senior Lunch at The Stag Pub, happening once a month on the fourth Tuesday of every month! Enjoy a delicious, hearty meal in a warm and welcoming atmosphere, with fantastic service and great company. Each month, we offer a thoughtfully curated menu that’s sure to satisfy, and our friendly staff will ensure you have an enjoyable and comfortable dining experience. We look forward to seeing you there!

I’ve eaten lunch a few times over the past year and I’ve always thoroughly enjoyed it. Favourite starters include the arancini, squid and Camembert. The Stag burger is amazing and for something lighter a firm favourite of mine is the Caesar salad with homemade dressing! It’s insanely good! The chefs do a fabulous job with most of the dishes homemade. It’s a lovely pub in a quiet location with just stunning views out through the huge bifold doors that lead on to a decked area with comfortable seating, a lawn filled with tables and a decent play area. Perfect setting for summer but the winter months are just as lovely sat indoors with the fire going.

Go have one of Chef Charlotte’s tasty Stag Burgers at this truly pubby pub with one of the best views from the dining room of the beautiful rolling Bucks countryside. Good pint of Rebellion here, too! **UPDATE** Amazing lamb Sunday Roast! Super cheesy cauliflower, roast carrots, light but crispy yorkie, porky savoury stuffing, good gravy, cabbage, parsnips & roasties. Very reasonable, too!
