About This Pub
Oh, what a gem The King George V is – it's one of those pubs where you walk in and instantly feel like you're among mates, thanks to the super friendly staff who are always up for a chat and a laugh. The food really steals the show; their Sunday roasts are just divine, with generous portions and flavours that'll have you coming back for more, and don't even get me started on the breakfasts – proper, filling fare that's spot on for a lazy weekend morning. It's got that real community spirit, making it ideal for a relaxed pint or a group get-together, and little extras like the chef checking in on you add such a nice personal touch. On the flip side, it's a shame they don't offer much in the way of food mid-week, so if you're popping in on a Tuesday, you might end up ordering takeaways instead. Plus, without a website, it's not the easiest to plan ahead, and the opening hours can be a bit muddled, which might catch you out if you're not local. All in all, it's a solid spot for good times and great grub, especially if you're after a welcoming atmosphere without the fuss – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, but keep those weekday food needs in mind.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, always up for a bit of banter and making you feel right at home.
-
The food is an absolute winner – think mouthwatering Sunday roasts, hearty breakfasts, and tasty burgers, all at brilliant value like £13 for a roast or £9 for a burger meal.
-
It's got that lovely community vibe, perfect for a casual catch-up or a lads' outing, with personal touches like the chef popping out to check if you're enjoying your meal.
-
They're flexible too, happy to help with ordering in food if it's not on the menu mid-week.
Cons
-
Food options can be a bit limited on weekdays, as they don't always serve meals, which might leave you needing to sort something else out.
-
There's no website listed, so it's a tad tricky to check out the menu or opening times online before heading over.
-
The operating hours seem a touch confusing from what I've seen, with varying times that might make planning a visit a bit of a guesswork.

I am so glad we stopped here. The staff are so friendly, the food (Sunday roast) was literally delicious. The chef came out to check we liked the food and because I said I loved the gravy, he gave me extra to take home.
Literally the nicest place!
