About This Pub

Ah, The Somerville Arms – it's one of those pubs that just feels right, tucked away in a lovely part of Leamington Spa, not far from the main drag. From what I've gathered from the reviews and a quick look at the place, it's got this genuine, old-school charm that draws you in, with award-winning drinks and a welcoming team that makes you feel like you're among friends right from the off. I love how they've got a fantastic array of real ales and ciders on tap, and the outdoor areas like the garden room and courtyard are brilliant for those warmer evenings when you fancy a bit of fresh air with your chat. It's dog-friendly too, which is always a plus if you're out with your furry companion. On the flip side, it does seem to have its quieter moments, especially mid-week, so if you're after a lively night, you might find it a bit more subdued than some other spots. Plus, with no recent reviews popping up, it makes me think they could step up their online game a tad to keep the buzz going. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for a proper pub experience – honest, unpretentious, and just what you need after a long day, as long as you go in with the right expectations.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is absolutely spot on, with a cracking range of real ales and lagers that really hit the spot for any ale enthusiast.
  • The atmosphere is just lovely – it's got that warm, traditional pub feel with a welcoming vibe in both the lounge and bar areas, making it feel like a proper home from home.
  • Staff are top-notch; the landlord, Matt, is always on hand with a friendly chat and a smile, which makes popping in even more enjoyable.
  • It's dog-friendly and has great outdoor spaces like the garden room, courtyard, and seats out front, perfect for a sunny afternoon catch-up with mates.
  • Being a traditional English pub, it's got that authentic charm, with options for events and even a bit of fun like dart games to keep things lively.
Cons
  • It can be a tad quiet at times, like on a weekday afternoon, so it might not always have that buzzing energy you're after.
  • There haven't been many recent reviews, which makes me wonder if it's not drawing in as many new visitors lately, despite its solid reputation.
  • The website is a bit basic and doesn't offer much detail, so you might need to pop in or call to get the full picture on what's on offer.
  • With the business unclaimed online, it feels like they could do more to engage with folks and keep the conversation going on platforms like Google.

Great old fashioned pub with friendly staff and an awesome atmosphere. You can't beat sitting outside on a nice summers evening catching up with friends and watching the world go by.

Ok not busy on a Wednesday afternoon but I can see it's a well run and cared for pub. Excellent barmaid (manager). Has to be the best pub in Leamington spa.

I visited this comfortable local pub on New Year's Day for the simple fun of enjoying a drink. I found it plus a free tuition of dart game by a friendly neighbourhood customer. This is a place to go to experience an English urban pub

This is my first English type pub... I just loved the place for the music and the people over there... They treated us with so much affection... Don't miss to visit the place on Wednesday when people come from various parts of the city to play ghe music.
