About This Pub
So, I've been having a look at The Shovel Inn in Lye, and it's got that proper old-school pub feel that's just lovely for a relaxed evening. The staff really stand out – they're so friendly and make everything feel effortless, which is always a plus when you're settling in for a drink or a meal. The food is spot on too; whether you're after something hearty like their Sunday lunches or a bit of excitement with themed nights, it's all done really well and at a reasonable price. Plus, the atmosphere is brilliant, with a cosy log fire for those chillier days and a fantastic outdoor area that's perfect for summer vibes or even hosting your own event. It's great for sports fans with Sky Sports on the telly, and the beer garden makes you feel like you've escaped to somewhere a bit more exotic. On the downside, the opening times are a bit of a muddle, and it doesn't seem to be open every day, which could put a dampener on spontaneous plans. Still, based on the glowing feedback, it's clear this place knows how to deliver a good time, and I'd say it's well worth checking out if you're in the area for some genuine pub charm.

The beer selection is top-notch, and being an inexpensive spot means you can enjoy good value without breaking the bank.
Cons
-
The operating hours seem a bit confusing and inconsistent, which might make it tricky to plan a visit, especially since it's not open every day of the week.
-
From what's available, it looks like there aren't many downsides mentioned by visitors, but the pub's current status is listed as closed, so it might not always be accessible when you'd hope.

Still the same fantastic quality of beer served here by pleasant, friendly staff. Extremely covid efficient if that's of concern to you and a really pleasant beer garden where you can actually kid yourself that you've escaped the insanity and are enjoying some Mediterranean / Greek hospitality. Well done Steve and team. Will be returning this Friday to sample the wonderful looking food.
