About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Cherry Tree – it's one of those hidden gems in Leicester that really captures the heart of a classic English pub. I love how it holds onto its history, with that welcoming feel that makes you want to settle in for the evening. The staff are absolute stars, always up for a chat, and the prices are spot on, so you can kick back with a pint without it costing a fortune. It's got a few nice touches too, like being dog-friendly and having a pool table for a bit of friendly competition, plus that cosy beer garden is just the ticket for a relaxed afternoon. On the other hand, it's not without its quirks; the drink options are on the slim side, so if you're someone who likes to explore different brews, you might not find as much variety here. And being tucked away, it can be easy to overlook if you're not in the know. All in all, it's a solid choice for anyone after a genuine, no-fuss pub experience – I'd say it's well worth seeking out for a proper night out.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's a proper old-school pub with a rich history, tucked away in Leicester, offering that authentic English charm.
  • The staff and regulars are incredibly welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • Drinks are surprisingly affordable, so you can enjoy a pint without worrying about the wallet.
  • It's dog-friendly and has a pool table, which adds a fun, relaxed vibe for a casual get-together.
  • The beer garden is cosy and inviting, perfect for a quiet chat on a milder day.
Cons
  • The beer selection is a bit limited, so if you're after a wide variety, you might find it lacking.
  • It's not the easiest spot to find, hidden away at the back of the shopping centre, which could mean you walk right past it.
  • With no website or online presence, it's more of a word-of-mouth place, which might make planning a visit a tad tricky.

This is a proper old Leicester pub with a great history. Located at the back of Highcross Shopping Centre. It’s amazing that a pub like this is still standing which just shows it’s well used by its regulars. Only a small range of beers…but it’s unbelievably cheap! Very friendly staff and regulars. Not everyone’s cup of tea but I love it!

If you didn't know it was there. You could easily walk past. Don't, exceptional old English pub. Awesome welcome, Dog friendly. Super friendly staff And customers. One of the few pubs with a pool table. Really not expensive compared to other pubs in town. Well done all involved.

Decent pub. Had Bass on cask. The tiny beer garden was cozy.

Isolated by dint of surrounding demolition. Very clean and well preserved inside, belying the exterior. Bass Red Label on handpull, all the rest are pillar taps. Expect a warm welcome.
