About This Pub
Ah, The Round House Cafe – it's one of those hidden gems that really warms the cockles on a chilly day in Northumberland. From what I've gathered from the reviews, folks absolutely love the welcoming vibe; it's run by Age UK, so there's this real sense of community, with groups for knitting and nattering that make it feel like you're among friends. The food gets top marks too – imagine tucking into a proper breakfast or one of those famous cheese scones, all at prices that won't set you back much. And it's not just about the eats; there's free WiFi and even takeaway options if you're in a rush. On the flip side, it can be a tad hard to spot if you're new to the area, and with limited hours from 9 to 3, five days a week, it might not fit the bill for late-night cravings. Overall, though, it's a solid choice for a casual get-together – honest, affordable, and full of heart, even if it's more cafe than full-blown pub. I'd say give it a go if you're nearby; you might just find yourself coming back for more.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is incredibly welcoming and friendly, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
The food is spot on – think delicious breakfasts, hearty lunches, and Kath's legendary cheese scones that everyone raves about.
-
Prices are really reasonable, so you can enjoy a good meal without breaking the bank, like a bacon butty and coffee for just over £3.
-
It's got a strong community vibe with activities like knit and natter groups, which add a lovely social touch.
-
Free WiFi is a nice bonus, perfect for popping in while you're waiting around or working nearby.
Cons
-
The signage could do with some improvement; it's a bit tricky to find if you're not familiar with the area.
-
It's only open five days a week from 9 to 3, which might not suit everyone, especially if you're after an evening spot.
-
With just a handful of reviews, it's hard to get a full picture, and that one lower rating suggests it might not click for absolutely everyone.

Great value. Friendly service. Free WiFi.
I had a bacon butty and Americano coffee for £3 something while I waited for my car to be serviced nearby.
Poorly signed but worth the hunt if you are in the area.
Also takeaway menu and catering service.
Great selection of food a hidden gem give it a try you will be pleasantly surprised
I go every Wednesday afternoon 2 knit & natter, sometime there's more nattering than knitting. We do all kinds of things jewelry and card making along with knitting and crochet. We are a nice friendly bunch everyone welcome
