About This Pub

Ah, The Rookwood Village – it's one of those pubs that really grows on you once you step inside. Picture this: a welcoming atmosphere with that brilliant back garden that's just made for lazy afternoons chatting away with friends over a cold one. The food's generally a winner too; I've heard rave reviews about their pizzas and burgers, which sound like proper treats when they're at their best. And the staff? They're often dead chuffed to help, adding to that homely vibe, plus it's great that they welcome dogs along. On the downside, it's not all smooth sailing – there are tales of food not quite hitting the mark, like a disappointing pizza that didn't live up to expectations, and service that can sometimes feel a bit absent, leaving you waiting a tick longer than you'd like. All in all, it's a solid choice if you're in the E11 area, but I'd say go with an open mind and perhaps stick to the crowd-pleasers to make the most of it.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely spot on, with a brilliant back garden that's perfect for relaxing and catching up with mates on a sunny day.
  • Food hits the mark quite often – think delicious pizzas and burgers that leave you satisfied, especially when they're done right.
  • The staff come across as friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the get-go.
  • It's dog-friendly, which is a lovely touch if you're popping in with your four-legged companion.
  • Prices are fair and reasonable, giving good value for a pint and a bite without breaking the bank.
Cons
  • Food quality can be inconsistent; some dishes, like certain pizzas, might turn out underwhelming with soggy bases or skimpy toppings.
  • Service isn't always on point – there have been times when it feels a bit overlooked, like staff not noticing you when you walk in.
  • It might not always buzz with energy, which could make for a quieter visit if you're after a lively crowd.

surprisingly poor food for such a lovely pub. visited recently and ordered a chicken burger and pizza. The pizza was significantly poorer quality than any home cooked oven pizza from the supermarket with a soggy base and minimal toppings (it was the hot one but had maybe 4 slices of pepperoni and 3 jalapenos). very disappointing on a positive note the beer selection and outdoor space was lovely, and the staff were great

Amazing atmosphere, back garden is the best to have a seat and to catch up with friends. Food we took pepperoni pizza which was simply delicious! Prices are fair. For drinks we took their signature energy drink “emerge” and peaches and passion fruit non alcoholic cocktail. Refreshing on a warm day. Overall, definitely recommend a visit even with friends and family. Waitress there are kind and friendly.

What an awesome place. If I could I would give it 6 stars. Employees were amazing and friendly. I had the best burger I have ever had - cooked well and fresh ingredients, with amazing fries. Crispy on the outside and soft on the inside. My sisters had one of the starters. See pics The pub is dog friendly. I will be going back. Sit outside if you can it is great.

A very lovely pub, nice decor and beer garden with ping pong table and adult only area. Wasn't very busy on Friday 3rd June and not a single member of the at least 6 members of staff turned to look our way when we walked in. Noticed a table had been marked with my name as I had already pre-booked so I mentioned that to the a girl at the bar and she said yes go ahead and sit down. Customer service was very minimal, wasn't impressed at all by their lack of attention and sub-standard communication skills. They were too busy hanging around the bar chatting most of the time. Considering it was very quiet it was disappointing to say the least. Food wasn't too bad however and came out piping hot, value was good with the 2-4-1 cocktails in Fridays, otherwise it would be a little dear for some perhaps at £8/9 per cocktail. Not sure would return, but if we did it would be with very little expectation. 2-4-2 cocktail that I had didn't have much alcohol in it at all. Ordered garlic bread with cheese for one of the kids and she cheese wasn't even melted as you will see in my photo that I have posted. I ordered a topless burger in the app (as stated on the menu) and a member of staff came to ask me what I meant by that?! Wouldn't hurt for the staff to know the menu.
