About This Pub
Ah, The Holly Tree – it's one of those pubs that just draws you in with its welcoming vibe and makes you want to settle in for the afternoon. I love how the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel comfortable, whether you're there for a quick pint or a full Sunday roast; it's that kind of place where you can chat away with friends or bring the family along. The food's a real highlight too – think tasty meals and a solid drinks menu that keeps things interesting, especially with options like great beers and spicy cocktails. And let's not forget the garden area with its outdoor seating; it's brilliant on a sunny day, and they've got little touches like quiz nights that add a fun twist to the evening. But, on the flip side, it's a bit of a letdown when the garden train isn't running – it happens more than you'd hope, and it's not always mentioned online, which could spoil plans if you've got excited little ones in tow. Plus, while the grub's lovely, it can feel a tad expensive for what you get, so it might not suit everyone on a budget. All in all, it's a solid spot for a get-together, but I'd say it's worth popping in with realistic expectations to make the most of it.

We came for Sunday roast with our 2 years old hoping to have a good time with the train as our son loves trains. Unfortunately the train was out of order and we were told that it won’t be working until July. We thought that they should include that information in the website as we wouldn’t have come today if we would have known. Food was ok but dessert was a let down, apple crumble was extremely sweet and the vegan banana cake was nothing special and very expensive (£7,50) for just a slice of loaf cake. I wouldn’t recommend the pineapple daiquiri either. The staff were nice and the space is lovely and family friendly. There is also a playground across the road. We hope to come back again and check the train out.
Whilst the little train in the garden might not have been running on our first visit it was a 5/5 experience, the food was lovely (maybe a little pricey?) great beers on tap and a deadly spicy marg. Will definitely visit again, really large pub with loads of outdoor seating. Family friendly, expect kids! but they do have an adults only section which is a great idea! Bar staff are lovely, would be happy to be kicked out at closing by them again!
Times have changed from the old Holly Tree, it has long been refurbished and looks good, the staff are always friendly and atmosphere is means you can have a nice family lunch on a Sunday afternoon or just beer garden with friends. There's a little train track that runs around the garden area, so younger kids can have fun whilst they're there too. Food is OK and good selection drinks, although as someone who grew up in the area, the prices are definitely not local pub price, more in keeping with gentrified independent. However, other than that, it's now a nice, clean and friendly establishment worth visiting as long you're expecting Wetherspoons prices.
The team was super friendly and the food was absolutely delicious. They host a quiz night on wednesdays, which adds to the fun, and the atmosphere was just perfect. They've got a spacious yard that will be fantastic during the summer.
The staff here were excellent: friendly, helpful & good at serving which was even more impressive given the number of families there. The train rides are special! The HPA was great and menu had good choice too.
