About This Pub

Oh, let me tell you about The Red Lion Inn – it's one of those hidden gems that you stumble upon and think, 'Why haven't I been here sooner?' From what folks are saying, the food is just brilliant; those Sunday roasts and hearty meals have people coming back for more, with plenty of praise for how tasty and well-prepared everything is. The staff really shine too, always on hand with a smile and that extra touch of care that makes you feel right at home. It's tucked away in a lovely, peaceful spot with outdoor areas that let you soak up the views, and there's a solid range of ales to enjoy in a cosy, traditional setting. On the flip side, it's wise to book ahead for a table since it gets busy, and the hours aren't as flexible as some places, so you might need to time your visit just right. All in all, it's a fantastic spot for a proper pub day out, but do keep those little niggles in mind to make the most of it – honest, it's worth the effort for that genuine, heartwarming experience.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on, with Sunday roasts and traditional meals getting rave reviews for being top drawer and full of flavour.
  • Staff are incredibly friendly and attentive, making every visit feel warm and welcoming, like chatting with old mates.
  • It's set in a picturesque, secluded spot with beautiful surroundings and outdoor seating, perfect for enjoying a pint in the fresh air.
  • A great selection of ales and a proper traditional pub vibe, complete with a cosy fire and that community feel.
  • Dog-friendly and family-oriented, adding to the relaxed, inclusive atmosphere that's just brilliant for a casual get-together.
Cons
  • Advance booking is recommended for dining, which means you might have to plan ahead rather than popping in on a whim.
  • Opening hours can be a bit limited, like not being open every day for meals, so it's worth checking to avoid disappointment.
  • Its secluded location in a quaint village is charming but could be tricky if you're not local or driving, especially on a rainy day.

Stopped by for a quick drink and to check out the area. Lovely spot secluded from the outside world in a very quaint village. This 'blue badge' pub is steeped in history, comfortable and welcoming with outdoor seating to fully appreciate the beautiful surroundings.

Came across this great little pub while looking to visit locally. The staff and the locals were really friendly. A nice fire burning along with lovely food was a real bonus. Dog and horse friendly (no horses in the pub). Thoroughly recommend a visit.
