About This Pub
Ah, The Red Lion – it's one of those pubs that just pulls you in with its welcoming feel and that classic old-school charm. From what I've gathered from folks' chats, the staff are absolute stars, always up for a laugh and making sure everyone feels at ease, whether you're there for a quick pint or a full meal. The food sounds spot on too, all fresh and homemade without being too pricey, and it's clear people love the lively atmosphere with things like karaoke nights and those eye-catching decorations that really get you in the spirit. On the downside, the opening times can seem a bit muddled, which might put a dampener on spontaneous plans, and it's a tad frustrating not having a website to scout out details in advance. All in all, it's a cracking spot if you're after a proper pub experience, but it'd be even better with a few tweaks to make it more straightforward for visitors.

Didn't eat here but everything else was fantastic such a fun night. So good we ended up going to another pub with the staff and regulars after they closed, karaoke was great.
After walking for miles on a cold day, we went to the Red Lion for a drink and food. Wow, what a hidden gem!
We were welcomed by the friendly staff, into a lovely friendly environment, filled with original features, wooden panelling and red hot radiators.
The food here is fresh, home-cooked and delicious. Two meals for £12 is amazing value for the portion sizes and quality of food. My partner had the double cheese burger which came with chunky golden chips and a fresh, crispy salad. I had the lamb chops, which were served with a mountain of mash a boat of gravy and perfectly cooked peas and carrots (I normally leave the peas in pubs as they are either grey or undercooked). We ordered a side of onion rings as we were worried the portions might be small, but we needn’t have worried!
The menu also had desserts on but we were too full to order any - trust me, we can usually fit a good pudding in!
They also serve hot drinks if you just want a coffee or hot chocolate on a cold day.
This is a real gem of a pub, tucked away in the centre of Walsall. We can not find a fault with it. Please give it a go, you won’t be disappointed!
Absolutely stunning pub, had the Christmas decorations up, some of the best I've seen, everyone in there was lovely, throughly enjoyed myself had a proper laugh
This is a great traditional pub right in the centre of Walsall. When we visited the pub it was really nicely decorated ready for Christmas. Staff were friendly in this nice cozy pub. Decent menu with decent prices. Definitely going to visit again.
Have lived in Walsall all me days and never been to this pub in town. And I've missed out hugely!
One of only a handful of original looking buildings left in the town centre and its a credit to the owners for keeping it looking as good as it is.
They definitely have the best Christmas decorations / window display in Walsall town. Putting a lot of the " designer " / larger well known shops to shame!
A nice warm friendly welcome on arrival, but I do think the music was just slightly high ( probably as I was sat near the speaker )
The pub looked nicely presented and clean and tidy and the amazing Christmas decorations throughout are a must see if your in Walsall over Christmas.
The chap behind the counter was Polite, attentive and the food ( I had the Cajun chicken with jacket potato ) was lovely and well seasoned and the portion size spot on.
They have an upstairs seating area up a spiral staircase but was closed off today ( I'll have to go back I think )
The toilets are round the back with an outdoor seated are for smokers
It's great to see one of Walsall oldest pubs still survive amongst the all the same looking / charmless sort of pubs / eateries we get these days. So if your in town and want a place to eat that has ambience, a warm welcome, full of history and delicious food pop in you won't be disappointed!
