About This Pub

Ah, The Railway & Naturalist in Prestwich – it's one of those classic Manchester pubs that just feels like a proper local spot, you know? From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the atmosphere is spot on, especially if you're into live sport; they've got loads of screens showing football, rugby, and more, which really gets everyone buzzing. The staff come across as genuinely welcoming, and with those affordable drink deals, it's an easy choice for a laid-back night out. It's all nicely renovated too, so it's clean and comfortable without losing that traditional pub charm. On the flip side, it's a shame they don't serve any food – a few people have mentioned it'd be even better with some grub on offer, as it leaves you a bit stuck if hunger strikes. And while the drinks are decent, it might not be the go-to for serious beer aficionados who are after something more unique. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed catch-up with mates, but keep in mind it's more about the drinks and the craic than a full evening's entertainment.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The atmosphere is absolutely spot on – it's a welcoming traditional pub with a great vibe, especially for catching live sport on their HD screens.
  • Staff are lovely and friendly, always ready with a smile and quick service, making you feel right at home.
  • It's inexpensive and has some unbeatable drink offers, so you can enjoy a refreshing pint without breaking the bank.
  • The place is spotlessly clean and recently renovated, giving it a fresh, inviting feel that's perfect for a relaxed evening.
Cons
  • There's no food on offer, which is a bit disappointing if you're after a bite to eat while you drink.
  • Some folks might find the beer selection just okay – one review mentioned having better elsewhere, so it might not wow the ale enthusiasts.
  • Opening hours are fairly standard, but it closes a tad early on Sundays, which could cut short your night if you're out late.

Never been in here before. Walked in to hear fab fab 80's music. People were friendly and down to earth. The atmosphere was great. Thd pub itself was clean and welcoming. Staff were lovely and prices good. It's not a bar, it's a pub and a pretty good one at that!

This old pub has now been refurbished, lock, stock and beer barrel. It's good, not "gentrified" and serves Timmy Taylor Landlord (I've had better though). Has a pool table and lots of themed evenings. It's also great for watching sport as they have so many screens.
