About This Pub
Ah, The Queens Head – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Derby, you know? I've got to say, the food really steals the show; their Sunday roasts are an absolute winner, with generous portions and flavours that leave you smiling, all for a fair price that doesn't break the bank. The outdoor seating is dead pretty, especially if you're popping in with the dog, and the indoor areas have that cosy fire going, making it ideal for a chat over a drink. The team behind the bar are always chipping in with a friendly word, which makes the whole experience feel relaxed and enjoyable. On the flip side, it's a shame about the odd menu item not being as fresh as it could be – like those nachos that sometimes come from a packet rather than being made from scratch. And with it being unclaimed online, you might not get super quick fixes if something's off. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for a night out; I'd recommend giving it a go for the grub and the atmosphere, as long as you keep expectations realistic for the smaller niggles.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food here is absolutely spot on – their Sunday roasts are divine, with juicy lamb and tasty veggies that make every bite feel like a treat.
-
It's super dog-friendly, so you can bring your furry mate along for a pint and some grub without any fuss.
-
The staff are always warm and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
Lovely atmosphere with both cosy indoor spots by the fire and charming outdoor seating areas, perfect for a sunny afternoon or a cosy evening.
-
They've got exciting events like live music and quiz nights, which add a fun buzz to the place and keep things lively.
Cons
-
A couple of dishes, like the nachos, might not be as freshly prepared as you'd hope – sometimes they're straight from a bag instead of homemade.
-
It's unclaimed on Google, which could mean responses to any issues might be a bit slower than at other spots.

Visited on a Monday night. We reserved a table and was by the ‘fire’ which was nice.
Chef’s special scotch egg starter was amazing - served hot and runny and i took half home as it was massive (larger than a standard supermarket scotch egg)
It was burger night so we had a burger and pint for £16 each. Although on checking the bill at the end only one pint had gone through on the offer which was slightly annoying but never mind.
Burgers were good - not amazing but how do you make a burger amazing? Would have preferred a load more chipotle sauce on my chicken burger as couldn’t taste it but enjoyed overall. Fries had a nice seasoning and the coleslaw was tasty.
Would return.
Lovely afternoon nibbles-stop with my young daughter. Staff attentive and polite. Lovely hot food, the only gripe is that the nachos were out of a bag. We've been before ( about a year or so ago), and they were deep-fried tortillas. On the whole, a lovely place to visit.
