About This Pub

Ah, The Queen's Head – it's one of those pubs that just warms your cockles the moment you step inside. From what I've gathered from folks who've been there, the food is a real standout; we're talking generous portions of homemade roasts, like those giant Yorkshire puddings and tasty gravies that leave you properly satisfied, with plenty of options for different tastes. The staff are absolute stars, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly, which really adds to the welcoming feel. It's spot on for dog owners too, as it's so accommodating for your furry mates. That cosy interior and the beer patio out back make it a lovely spot for whiling away an afternoon, and the beers are kept just right. On the flip side, though, the varying opening times can be a bit of a nuisance if you're not prepared, and it might get a wee bit crowded or noisy with those church bells chiming nearby on occasion. All in all, it's a gem of a place for a relaxed meal or a catch-up with friends – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, but keep those little niggles in mind for the full picture.

Pros and Cons

Pros

  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's wonderfully dog-friendly, so you can bring your four-legged friend along for a pint without any fuss.
  • The atmosphere is cosy and inviting, with a nice beer patio for enjoying a well-kept pint on a sunny day.
  • Prices are reasonable for what you get, offering good value whether you're popping in for a quick drink or a full meal.
Cons
  • The opening hours can vary a bit, so it's worth double-checking to avoid any disappointment if you're planning a visit.
  • As a small village pub, it might feel a tad cramped on busier evenings, which could make it tricky to find a seat.
  • There could be some noise from the nearby church bells, especially on certain evenings, which might disrupt a quiet chat.

What a superb meal. Great quality food, amazing menu choice for all dietary needs, and generous portion size. A lovely setting, friendly staff and locals too. (No pics of the food as we were too busy enjoying to remember to get a snap!) It's a pooch friendly establishment which is always a green flag for us. My partner has confirmed it's the best Guinness in the area too! Top 3 pint of all time from a self proclaimed Guinness connoisseur who's been to Ireland to sample it on its home soil; not to be sniffed at for those who enjoy a pint of the black stuff. If you're in the area, I highly recommend paying a visit!

Semi-regular since 2013ish. Update Feb2025 & Apr2025: well kept beer, good quality food in good sized portions, friendly staff, small and cozy, nice beer patio, right next to church (bell ringing practice Wed evenings!). A recent change in management has resulted in a change in menu. Now, pub classics sit alongside a menu's "Asian corner", a small selection of home-cooked Asian dishes with a genuinely authentic home-cooked knowledge about how to prepare the meal. Whether British or Asian, all of the food here is packed with flavour, well-presented and good value.

Just had a lovely lunch at this hidden little village pub. Jen the bar girl couldn’t have been more helpful and very friendly. We had two pints of Moretti lager and a delicious warm fresh baguette filled with thick slices of hand cut ham, cheese and mixed salad all for £30 which we thought was very reasonable. Good service, lovely outdoor garden seating and very relaxed atmosphere. Will definitely be going back when in the area.
