About This Pub

Ah, The Prince of Wales – what a gem of a pub it is, tucked away in Ilford. From the moment you step in, you're greeted with that warm, traditional feel, complete with a pool table and dart board for a bit of friendly competition, and they've got sports on the screens if you're into that. The food really stands out; think hearty pub classics that are both delicious and won't break the bank, paired with a great selection of beers that go down a treat. The garden's a highlight too, especially on a nice day, offering spots to relax with a cold one. Service-wise, the staff are just lovely, always up for a chat and quick to help out. On the flip side, it's very much a locals' spot, which means it might take a newcomer a minute to feel fully part of the gang, and without a website, it's not the easiest to plan a visit. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed night out – I'd say pop in for the quiz on Tuesdays if you're up for some laughs, but keep in mind it might not suit everyone if you're after something more modern.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely delicious and offers great value for money, with classic pub dishes that hit the spot every time.
  • The service is top-notch – friendly and helpful staff who make you feel right at home.
  • There's a lovely garden with shaded and open seating, perfect for enjoying a pint on a sunny day.
  • It has a traditional vibe with fun extras like a pool table, dart board, and sports shown on screens – plus, they even cater to requests.
  • The drinks selection is spot on, including great guest beers and a fine pint at reasonable prices.
  • Quiz nights on Tuesdays add a brilliant bit of entertainment and community spirit.
Cons
  • As a real locals' pub, it might feel a bit cliquey if you're not from the area, so it could take a visit or two to settle in.
  • No website means it's trickier to check out menus or events online before heading over.
