About This Pub
Ah, The Prairie – it's one of those pubs that feels like a proper local gem in Burnley, you know? I've got to say, what stands out most is how they keep things affordable without skimping on quality; you can grab a hearty meal and a pint without breaking the bank, which is a real win in these pricey times. The staff are just brilliant, always up for a chat and remembering little preferences that make you feel right at home. Plus, it's spotlessly clean and the service flies by, so whether you're catching up with mates over a game or tucking into one of their sizzling skillets, it's generally a breeze. On the flip side, though, the food isn't always perfect – some bits can be a bit dry or lacking in flavour, which is a shame when the rest is so good. And honestly, the drinks might not always hit the mark for freshness, the vibe can be quiet at times, and I've heard a few grumbles about the bar team not being as cheerful as they could be, or the toilets being a bit chilly and unwelcoming. All in all, it's worth a visit if you're in the area, especially for a budget-friendly night out, but just keep expectations balanced and maybe check it out on a busier evening for that full pub experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros

-
The staff are absolutely lovely and go the extra mile with thoughtful touches, like warming up a beer if that's your preference, which really adds to the welcoming vibe.
-

-
Service is quick and efficient, so you won't be left waiting around, which is perfect for a casual get-together.

They're involved in the local community, supporting charities and offering spaces for events, which gives it a nice, community-spirited feel.
Cons
-
Some of the food can be hit or miss – a few dishes might turn out dry or just not quite right, which is a bit disappointing.
-
Drinks aren't always as fresh as they'd like, and the atmosphere can feel a tad flat on certain visits.
-
The bar staff might not always seem in the best mood, which can put a slight dampener on things.
-
Facilities like the toilets can be uncomfortably cold and damp, which isn't ideal for a relaxing evening.

Good food at a great price, but I think what really makes the place is the nice staff.
When we book ( advisable later in the week) they've always taken a couple of Doombars out of the fridge because they know one of us doesn't like cold beer.
It's not a big thing but those little touches make you feel welcome.
Give it a try.
I was amazed by how cheap this place is, especially in times where inflation has gone through the roof! Ordered the surf and turf at the bargain price of £10.80 washed down with a pint that cost around £3.50. The food was good and piping hot and quick service. Will definitely return!
Most of the food was really nice, but some of it was not great, some was dry and just didn't have a generally nice taste, however the food that was good, was really good! The food and drinks were worth the price,
However at the bar there was a lovely lady (50s ish) who looked like she was training two new people at the same time! How is that fair on her! Was very chaotic at times, but the lady was absolutely lovely, the two blokes that were being trained, not as much.
2 couples called in for a few rounds of drinks. Didn’t eat but the food we saw looked good. Barman could have been happier. Drinks didn’t seem crisp & fresh. Not a lot of atmosphere on our visit & the gents toilets were like a fridge freezer. Definitely the coldest dampest ones I’ve visited
Absolutely lovely clean bar and restaurant, everything was immaculate and the staff were so polite and superb. Quick to serve us and help us to our table and the food was out fast too, drinks were delivered to our table and again were fast at that also.
We were definitely impressed with the food and the size of our portions, quality was superb and we left stuffed!
Pricing was great, can’t grumble at that fish and chips for £10! Especially when it was so good too.
Plenty of parking all the way round the place, free for customers too. Big teles in here to watch sports also, I like that the ‘pub’ side of the place is separated nicely with the glass wall so it’s lovely and quiet in the restaurant side.
Atmosphere is lovely, I think the way it’s decorated is very modern and traditional at the same time. Great mix of furniture and artwork.
