About This Pub

Ah, The Posada – it's one of those timeless pubs that just feels right, you know? Tucked away on Lichfield Street, it's got this wonderful historic vibe with its Grade II-listed features and tiled walls that make you feel like you're stepping back in time. I love how they've kept the real ales in top form; whether it's a pint of Dark Star or whatever's on tap, they're always well-maintained and reasonably priced, especially with that CAMRA affiliation giving it an extra nod of approval. The courtyard out back is a nice touch for when you fancy a bit of fresh air, and it's dead convenient if you're coming from the station or after a game. On the flip side, though, the beer choices can be a bit slim pickings sometimes – just a couple on offer, which might disappoint if you're hoping for a wider range. Plus, the opening times look a bit erratic and often end early, so it's worth checking before you head over, as there's no website to make life easier. Overall, it's a solid spot for a laid-back pint with mates, but it might not be the place for a big night out. I'd say give it a go if you're in the area; the positives definitely outweigh the niggles for anyone who appreciates a good, honest pub.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • Fantastic selection of real ales, all well-kept and at reasonable prices – perfect for a proper pint session.
  • It's CAMRA affiliated, which means you're getting great value and some top-quality brews that ale enthusiasts will love.
  • The historic interior is really something special; it's a Grade II-listed building with impressive tiled walls and a cosy atmosphere.
  • There's a lovely little courtyard at the back, ideal for a quiet drink outdoors when the weather's on your side.
  • Handy location just a short walk from Wolverhampton Station, making it easy to pop in after a day out or a match at Molineux.
Cons
  • The beer selection can be a bit limited at times, with only a couple of options available, so it might not suit those after a huge variety.
  • Operating hours seem a tad confusing and possibly on the short side, typically wrapping up around 2 PM, which could cut your evening short.
  • No website means it's tricky to check the latest info or menu before you go, relying on word of mouth or a quick Google search.
  • It might not always be buzzing; one visit mentioned it was quiet, which could be a downside if you're after a lively crowd.

A good old pub with a great choice of real ales, all at good prices. CAMRA affiliated so even better value.

The oldest pub in Wolverhampton. Keeps and serves well kept ale but may be limited to a couple of changes. Last time went in only pale ale can get any where.

Albrecht spotted this CAMRA Good Beer Guide entry. Had a recent refurb in 1900. Still, very impressive interior despite this. Four real ales on our visit. Had a pint of Dark Star. Excellent. There is a small rear beer patio. Posada apparently links to Inns and The Nativity. The Spanish have a 9 day Posada festival, one day for each month of Mary's pregnancy. A lovely friendly pub. Great visit.

Very good pub less than 10 minutes walk from Wolverhampton Station. Three cask beers on handpump when I last visited. Courtyard to the rear. The pub is Grade II-listed with a ceramic exterior and interior tiled walls. Not too busy after the Spurs game at Molineux.
