About This Pub
Ah, The Port Jackson – it's one of those reliable Wetherspoon pubs that you can always count on for a good time without spending a fortune. I reckon you'll appreciate the cracking deals on drinks and food; it's brilliant for grabbing a cheap pint or trying out their vegan options, which are surprisingly decent for a spot in a smaller town. The staff are an absolute delight, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly. On the downside, it does get a bit squished downstairs sometimes, and that kitchen noise can be a nuisance if you're after a peaceful evening. Still, with its prime location near the station, it's perfect for a casual meet-up or a quick bite before heading off. All in all, it's a welcoming place that does the essentials well, but if you're after something more vibrant, you might want to keep that in mind.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
It's super affordable with loads of great deals, like cheap ales and Steak Club Tuesdays, making it ideal for a budget-friendly night out.
-
The staff are really friendly and welcoming, which adds to the enjoyable experience.
-
They've got a fantastic selection of food and drinks, including decent vegan options, so there's something for everyone.
-
The place is spotlessly clean and well-presented, with plenty of seating both inside and outside.
-
Its location near the train station and airport is spot on for a quick stop or if you're passing through town.
Cons
-
Downstairs can get a bit overcrowded, which might make it tricky to find a comfortable spot during busy times.
-
The kitchen sometimes makes a right racket, so if you're sensitive to noise, it's best to steer clear of those areas.
-
The atmosphere is a tad mild and not always buzzing, so it might not feel as lively as some other spots.

This has got to be one of my favourite spoons. Very clean and well presented. Lots of tables, up and down stairs, as well as outside.
There's a normal great selection of food and drinks and the staff were very friendly.
I had the small veggie breakfast, which was delicious, well cooked, and great value.
True to form Wetherspoons deliver premium service with a smile. It's always a pleasure to discover their promotional offers from ale under £2 to Steak Club Tuesdays. Visit again and again for good vibes and fun times.
Decent vegan options for a small town like this. Atmosphere was pretty mild but staff were quite friendly. Kitchen making horrible noises so I advise not to get a booth near there if you’re sensitive.
Near the main train station so it’s a good place to stop off and it’s just off the towns high street.
I imagine it gets loud in the evenings
Very nice upstairs, but tables a bit overcrowded downstairs. Nice decor.
Stayed for a couple late on a Saturday night. Quite possibly the closest Wetherspoon's to.Stansted Airport. Locals were friendly as were the bar staff. Very nice craft beer in Mad Squirrel. Only seem to have this one in the South East of England. Worth a visit if you're in the town.
