About This Pub

Ah, The Plough & Sail – it's one of those pubs that really hits the spot for a relaxed evening out. From the reviews, you can tell it's got that genuine warm feel, with staff who go out of their way to make you comfortable, almost like you're catching up with pals. There's a brilliant mix of drinks on offer, and the entertainment side is spot on with pool, darts, and a jukebox that keeps things lively. Plus, the outdoor areas are perfect for soaking up the sun on a nice day, adding a bit of that outdoor charm we all love. On the flip side, though, there was this one tale of the owner being a tad disrespectful, whisking away a drink and showing someone the door without a second thought – it's a shame and might put a dampener on things if you're unlucky. Overall, with such a strong rating, it's clear most visits are a winner, but I'd say it's worth keeping in mind that pubs can have their off days. If you're in Lowestoft, give it a go for the good times, but maybe keep an eye out for the service to ensure it's up to scratch.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely lovely and make you feel right at home, just like chatting with old mates.
  • There's a fantastic selection of drinks and loads of fun things to do, like playing pool, darts, or spinning tunes on the jukebox.
  • The outdoor patio and garden area are spot on for enjoying a pint on a sunny day – it's a proper treat when the weather's nice.
  • It has that classic traditional decor with a warm, welcoming atmosphere that makes you want to linger for hours.
Cons
  • There was one dodgy experience where the owner was a bit rude and took a drink away without any explanation – not the best way to treat folks.
  • Service might be hit or miss based on that feedback, so it could vary depending on when you pop in.

Firstly I'll tell youse that they've an awesome duke-box that plays great music 🎶 If your in town this pub is defo worth a visit. Traditional decor with a warm atmosphere and friendly staff. Good choice of drinks and comfi seating. Lovely garden space out back and a pool table inside for those that like a game. Toilets were clean. I didn't eat here as I went in with a full belly but stay for a few hours after only intending to have just one drink so no comment on the food but the drinks are fair prices. I'll be popping in again while I'm in the area. Thanks to bar staff Katie.
