About This Pub

Ah, The Plough Inn – it's one of those pubs that really warms your cockles with its welcoming vibe and top-notch grub, but it's not without its flaws, if I'm honest. I've heard from mates that the food is a real highlight; we're talking generous portions of delicious dishes like steak and ale pie or that white chocolate and coconut cheesecake, all for a price that won't break the bank. The staff are generally lovely and quick to fix any mishaps, like when the food's not piping hot, which makes you feel looked after. It's a great choice for a family meal or just a casual catch-up over a pint. On the flip side, though, the beer prices can sting a bit, and service isn't always on point – some folks have mentioned the manager being a tad ignorant or staff not bothering much on busier nights. Plus, the atmosphere can feel a bit flat at times, and the old-school loos could do with a spruce-up. Overall, it's worth a visit if you're in the area, especially for the food, but maybe go in with realistic expectations and you'll have a cracking time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • The food is absolutely fantastic – think hearty portions of things like steak and ale pie or curried mutton burgers, all at a great value for the price.
  • It's a lovely spot for families or just popping in for a drink, with a warm, community feel that keeps people coming back.
  • The chef clearly puts their heart into it, and they're quick to sort out any little issues, which is really reassuring.
Cons
  • The beer can be a bit pricey, which might put a dampener on things if you're after a budget night out.
  • Service isn't always spot on – sometimes it feels like they're not in the mood to serve, and the manager can come across as a bit off-putting.
  • The atmosphere is a tad lacking; it's not the liveliest spot, and some say it's as dull as a quiet evening in.
  • A few niggles with the facilities, like the loos being a bit dated and tired, and occasional issues with food not being served at the right temperature.

Just been for a meal and pudding here, friendly staff, friendly locals, fab chef. The food was fantastic, and Ty himself served us and clearly loves his work and values your opinion. We had the steak and ale pie, the curried mutton burger and the white chocolate, lime and coconut cheesecake. Cooked to perfection with lots of flavour and the pie stuffed full of steak. Good food, good people, good prices. Thoroughly recommend and will be returning.

Apparently there are something like 50 pubs closing down every week in the UK. Why not this one? Less atmosphere than a pub on the moon. Glasses that must have been stored outside. Crisps were OK. They can't get their fingers in there. Really have to try harder, people.

Slight issue with temp of food but this was quickly rectified bu a very apologetic chef. Appreciate they were busy as had a wake on in back room and the barmaid was doing her best but you would have thought extra staff would have been on with the wake present. Loos are "old and tired" . Definitely return again once pub has had its refit for the tasty food

Been to this little pub on multiple occasions. The service has always been outstanding, the staff are lovely, and the food and portion sizes are amazing for the price you pay! Great family pub or one for a drink. I will come again
