About This Pub
Ah, The Pier Hotel – it's one of those places that really grows on you once you get past the door. From what I've gathered from folks who've been there, the food is where it truly excels; think hearty Sunday roasts with flavours that surprise and delight, all at prices that won't break the bank. The team behind the bar are just lovely, always polite and quick to make you feel welcome, which is spot on for turning it into your new local haunt. And that view over the Thames? It's a real gem, giving it a charming, almost seaside feel that makes for a great spot to unwind with mates or family. On the flip side, though, the inside does look a bit tired and outdated, so it might not wow you straight away – it's one of those pubs where the charm is in the details rather than the decor. Plus, I've heard a few tales about some of the regulars being a bit overbearing, which could put a damper on things if you're after a quiet pint. All in all, with its solid reputation and that welcoming vibe, it's worth popping in if you're nearby, but maybe go in with an open mind and keep an eye out for the rougher edges. You'd probably enjoy it for what it is – a proper British pub with heart.
Pros and Cons

-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got a charming old-school vibe with lovely views over the Thames, almost like you're by the sea – perfect for a relaxed family lunch or a casual catch-up.
Cons

Some of the regulars can be a tad unwelcoming, like blocking the entrance or making things feel less than cosy, which might spoil the atmosphere for newcomers.

Wonderful food served by lovely people. Also very good value.
Great pub for Sunday roast dinner, the food definitely exceeded expectations as it is quite dated and rundown inside so first impressions weren’t great. However the food was brilliant, I had prawn cocktail for starter and roast chicken for main, everything was really flavoursome and nothing was too much trouble for the staff. There is no parking at the actual pub but a free car park a few minutes walk away.
Brilliant pub. Pub is welcoming and staff are always polite. Made this my new local! The management and owners are very friendly and welcoming. Food is always good here too 👍
Me and my wife popped in for a quiet beer as we were looking for a quiet pub in the area, we arrived to regulars basically blocking the entrance. Once we were inside, we approached the bar and was served quickly by the lady behind the bar. Once we were sat down, the regulars at the bar were making incredibly lewd comments about my girlfriend which she could hear and it made her VERY uncomfortable so we left pretty sharp.
Nice pub with a half decent ambience but the behaviour of the regulars really spoil the pub for people.
Charming old pub with views over the Thames. Almost felt like you were by the sea. Just stopped in for family lunch. Food was excellent and very reasonably priced. Staff were friendly and accommodating. Would definitely recommend.
