About This Pub
You know, when I popped into The Open Arms, it felt like that reliable local spot where you can unwind after a day exploring nearby parks or the cathedral – it's conveniently tucked away on Daventry Road, easy to reach by car. The place has this inviting charm with its classic pub feel, and they've nailed the food side with options for everyone, from hearty lunches to vegan choices and even kids' menus, all at prices that won't break the bank. What really stands out is how welcoming the team is; they're quick to sort you out and make you feel right at home, which is just what you want for a casual evening. On the downside, a few folks have mentioned the odd slip-up with food preparation, like things being a bit overdone, so it might not be the go-to if you're after perfection every time. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed pint and a bite, especially if you're with family or pets, but I'd say keep it simple and you'll have a cracking time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The atmosphere is just lovely and welcoming, making it a perfect spot for a catch-up with mates or a relaxed family meal.
-
They've got a great selection of food at really good prices, like their fixed-price menus and Sunday roasts that offer brilliant value for traditional and modern dishes.
-
The staff are absolute stars – friendly, attentive, and always up for a chat, which really makes the visit more enjoyable.
-
It's super family and pet-friendly, so you can bring the little ones or your furry companion along without any fuss.
Cons
-
Some dishes can be hit or miss with cooking, like overcooked steaks or chicken, which might disappoint if you're after something spot on.
-
It might not feel quite as upscale as some places, especially if you're expecting top-tier dining experiences at pub prices.

Lovely Pub. I was part of a crew team for the Soccer Aid Unicef Match ball mission, and we were very welcome by the entire team at the pub. Beautifully decorated and great atmosphere.
Thank you for your hospitality.
This is a nice and cosy pub offering great food and atmosphere for great prices.
The best part is that pets are more than welcome to come along and can also be allowed indoors while sitting down to a meal.
The food represents good value for all the traditional classics with some modern variations.
3.5 would probably be my score for food if I could give it.
Staff have been really friendly and accommodating, informing us of special discounts and deals available on the app.
Go and try it for great, honest pub food.
Wonderful pub with wide range of variety food. We tried their noon time 3 course set meal for 12.29 pounds (starter, main and pudding). It was so good it's very worthy. Atmosphere was so good, staffs are really nice and attentive.
Overall it was a wonderful experience and highly recommended.
Came for dinner for a friend’s birthday, lovely atmosphere. Child and dog friendly which isn’t always the case! Table was serviced by Madison who was so kind and polite, chatted to the littles on the table. Would 100% come again
With much expectation we went to The Open Arms, placed an order for Steak, Chicken, and Cocktails. Steak and Chicken were over cooked and hard. The prices were equivalent to any good restaurant. Service was good and staff were courteous and helpful. I would recommend the management to improve the quality of food.
