About This Pub

Ah, The Old Wine & Spirit Vaults – it's one of those classic spots that feels like a step back to the old days of pubbing. I reckon it's got its heart in the right place with the friendly crowd and a solid pint of Stella that you can rely on for a proper taste. It's straightforward and clean, which is just what you want for a quick stop-off without any pretentious nonsense. On the downside, though, the inside can come across as a tad dreary, almost like it's stuck in a time warp that doesn't quite charm everyone. Then there's the limited drink options and that cash-only policy, which feels a bit outdated these days and might leave you fumbling for notes. And let's not forget, it can get a bit boisterous later on with the noise kicking up, so if you're after a peaceful evening, you might want to pop in earlier or look elsewhere. All in all, it's a decent choice if you're local and in the mood for something simple, but it might not be the first pick for a more refined night out – still, give it a go and see for yourself!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The friendly staff and locals create a welcoming atmosphere, perfect for a casual chat over a drink.
  • They serve a decent pint of Stella, which hits the spot if you're after a straightforward, reliable beer.
  • It's kept basic but clean, offering that classic pub feel without any unnecessary frills.
Cons
  • The interior can feel a bit dreary and unwelcoming, almost like stepping back in time in a not-so-charming way.
  • Drink choices are quite limited, and it's cash only, which might put you off if you're used to cards or a wider selection.
  • It tends to get rowdy later in the evening with shouting and swearing, making it less ideal for a relaxed visit.

This is one of those pubs no one goes in but the locals. Its very dreary inside and reminds me of a morgue. They do have a pool table if that helps but apart from that there's far better pubs in the area.

Popped in on a Saturday afternoon. It didn't feel very welcoming, the choice of drinks wasn't really for me and it was cash only. Not somewhere I'd rush back to.

Basic but clean local pub that was ok until later on in the evening when a load of people wandered in and spent most of the time shouting, swearing and spoiling things so no wonder that many avoid this place
