About This Pub

Ah, The Old Ivy House – it's one of those spots that just feels like a hidden gem in the heart of Clerkenwell, you know? Picture walking into a classic old-school boozer with a real fire crackling away, making everything feel cosy and inviting, especially on a damp London evening. The staff are an absolute delight; they're always cheerful, ready for a natter, and they'll even sort out a special tune if you're celebrating something. Then there's the food – their Indian dishes are spot on, fresh from the tandoor and full of flavour, which is a lovely surprise in a traditional pub setting. And don't get me started on the events; Friday jazz nights are brilliant, the weekly quiz is a laugh with the landlady hosting, and there's all sorts like comedy or live music to keep things buzzing. On the flip side, it's a bit of a shame that some of the smaller taster plates have vanished from the menu lately, which might limit your choices if you're after a proper feast. Still, with affordable prices and that community feel where everyone feels like a local, it's well worth popping in for a pint and a catch-up – you'd have a top night, I'm sure!

Wow! What a gem! First time visiting this place, its a perfect hideaway that creates an intimate, friendly atmosphere. The bar staff are happy positive and accommodating, especially if you want to hear a specific tune on your special occasion. The regulars are, well, part of the furniture and create a great family vibe, a special community where everyone makes you feel welcome. The live Jazz band doesn't hurt either! Had a really good time!

I have known and liked this pub for several years. And have become a Friday night regular for the jazz session. I have always enjoyed the Indian food here, and I know has justifiably had a great reputation, but quite a few of the small taster plates disappeared off the menu a while ago, and tonight it’s taken a nose dive. There was only one curry left, no rice, and the curry was luke warm. When I complained and asked for it to be warmed up, I was told the kitchen had just closed. They need to sharpen up a bit quick to get the food back to the standard that earned them the reputation.

Great local pub, serving Shepherd Neame and other beers. We went there on a cold Saturday evening and sat beside their real log fire. The have love music and a quiz night as well.

Staff were incredibly friendly with great customer support, talking to the locals visiting the bar. Indian food was amazing, Indian friend said they know how to do it right so take his word for it. We even got 10% student discount so our drinks were at a great price. Highly recommend for everyone and students.

We stumbled across this pub and it turned out to be a great spot, with that classic English pub feel. You walk in and it's your classic local jaunt, that you'd gladly spend a lot of time in as it's a nice place The pleasant surprise was discovering their food menu, which came with some South Asian bites that were absolutely amazing. This pub and it's cuisine are right at home in Farringdon, and the while experience was so good I'd gladly return to savour more of the sweet, spicy delicacies whilst washing them down with good beer.
