About This Pub
Ah, The Old English Gentleman – it's one of those classic pubs that really hits the spot for a relaxed evening or a quick bite. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the value for money is top-notch; imagine snagging a pint and a pizza for just ten quid – that's proper wallet-friendly and makes it ideal for us lot who fancy a good deal without breaking the bank. The staff come across as genuinely warm and chatty, creating that homely atmosphere where you can unwind, and it's brilliant that they welcome dogs, so it's perfect if you're popping in with your furry mate after a stroll. Plus, with the new management stepping up, there's talk of solid entertainment and a real community spirit that's got people raving in the recent reviews. On the flip side, while the latest feedback is all five stars, the overall rating dips to 3.9, which makes me think there might be the odd slip-up or busier times when things aren't quite as smooth. And honestly, their website's a bit underwhelming – it's just a simple gallery, so you might not find all the info you need before heading over. All in all, it's worth a visit if you're in the area for that traditional pub experience, but keep in mind it could have its ups and downs, just like any local spot.
Pros and Cons

-
It's got such a friendly vibe with welcoming staff and a lovely atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.
-
They're dog-friendly, which is ace if you're out for a walk and fancy a stop for lunch.
-

Cons
-
The overall rating sits at 3.9, suggesting there might be some off days or mixed experiences that aren't as glowing as the recent ones.
-
Their website is pretty basic – just a simple gallery page, so it doesn't give much detail if you're trying to check things out online first.
-
The operating hours look a bit muddled in the info available, which could confuse anyone planning a visit.

Good entertainent ,lovely couple running the pub now, great place to go
This is now under new management. We have been popping in since November the atmosphere is welcoming as are the staff and drinks are good too Definitely worth a visit if you want a local pub with a warm welcome🍺
Visited here a couple of days ago, after looking for somewhere to have lunch, we came across this place, and so glad we did. The landlord said they didn't have much of a menu, but it was quite sufficient for what we wanted. The bonus was they accepted dogs.
The service we had was great, the couple who ran the pub were wonderful and friendly. The food was great too. My husband and my Cousin had scampi and chips and I had the breaded brie and some fries. We were all very happy with our choices. Our dog had a lot of fuss and a treat, so she was happy too.
The Old English Gentleman is a proper English pub, that sadly seem to be few and far between. I'd give it 10/10 thoroughly recommend
