About This Pub
So, I've been having a look at The Nursery Inn in Stockport, and it's honestly one of those places that warms you up straight away with its fresh refurbishment – think new carpets and painted walls that make it feel just right for a casual catch-up or even a special event like a christening. The staff are brilliant, always on hand with that welcoming touch, and the pie menu is a real winner; it's affordable, packed with flavour, and pairs perfectly with a pint or two. Plus, the community atmosphere is spot on, with outdoor seating that's a sun-trap in the summer and a big screen for the footie, making it a go-to for locals. On the downside, they've streamlined the menu to just pies, and from what I've seen, a few folks are missing the broader options from before, like sandwiches and family-friendly dishes, which might not suit everyone, especially if you're popping in with little ones. All in all, it's a solid spot with plenty of charm, but it'd be even better with a bit more variety on the food front – definitely worth checking out if you're nearby, but keep those menu expectations in mind for a balanced experience.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The pub's been beautifully refurbished, with fresh paint and new carpets that make it feel cosy and inviting, perfect for a relaxed get-together.
-
Staff are super friendly and welcoming, always ready with a smile and great service that really adds to the homely vibe.
-
The pie menu is top-notch and excellent value at under £15 – it's hearty, delicious, and a real highlight for a satisfying meal with your pint.
-
It has a lovely traditional community feel, with a big screen for football and outdoor seating that's brilliant on sunny days, especially with the bowling green nearby.
-
It's versatile for different occasions, like family events or christenings, with a function room upstairs that's just right for smaller gatherings.
Cons
-
The menu's been simplified to just pies now, which is a shame if you're after more variety like the old sandwiches, steaks, or kids' meals that used to be on offer.
-
Some might find it a bit limited for families or those wanting lighter options, as the lack of the previous menu choices could leave you wanting more.

Beautifully refitted but what happened to the food menu. We used to really enjoy your range of sandwiches, steaks and kids meals as well as the odd Sunday dinner. Still our go-to local but just pies…? Please bring the old menu back, loved having a sarnie with our pints and a few chips. Anyway, looks beautiful inside and out.
The nursery in pub accommodated my children’s christening in the function room upstairs.
It had just been refurbished, freshly painted walls and new carpet. It was beautiful and perfect for our quiet event.
The food was lovely (buffet 2 hot and cold food) and the staff were amazing from start to finish.
Highly recommended and we wouldn’t hesitate to book the fiction room again for any future events.
Thank you to all the lovely staff for helping make our day special and allowing our family dog to attend the event 🥰
Tried the pie menu, first time I’ve had food in here since the refurbishment and omg am I glad I came! As always the staff and atmosphere were lovely, the food for under £15 was top tier. Really enjoyed the pie I had and the food! Would recommend, so glad this local is on my doorstep will be eating from the new menu again ❤️
Great community Hyde's pub with a traditional feel. Friendly staff decent choice of Hyde's ails and usual lager. Big screen TV mostly on during football. Upgraded outdoor seating that gets busy in summer due to bowling green and is south facing so great when the sun's out. Simple menu that seems a fair price but I've not sampled myself. Nice place.
Visited today with my hubby for lunch. Staff were super friendly and welcoming. I've probably got their names wrong as I've got goldfish memory 🙈 (maybe Dipan and Tallulah)? Anyway, the food was gorgeous, menu seems good value for money and we will definitely return 👌
