About This Pub

Ah, The Nottingham Legend – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in the heart of Nottingham, you know? From what I've gathered from the reviews, it's got this warm, old-school charm that draws in all sorts of folk, whether you're there for a pint, to catch a game, or just to unwind. The staff really stand out; they're so approachable and make everyone feel welcome, which is exactly what you want after a long day. The food's another highlight – think hearty portions of things like chilli con carne or fish and chips, all at fair prices, and they've got options for vegans too, which is brilliant for a spot like this. Plus, they've shown real thoughtfulness with accessibility, like quickly sorting out a ramp for someone with a wheelchair, making it easier for everyone to enjoy. On the flip side, it's a bit gutting to hear it's closing down soon for more student housing; it's one of those places full of memories that's going to be missed. And while the location in the city centre is handy, it does mean the maintenance can struggle a tad, so things might not always be in tip-top shape. Overall, if you're in the area, I'd say pop in for a visit – it's got that authentic pub feel that's hard to beat, but don't leave it too late!

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are absolutely brilliant – so welcoming and friendly, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's got that classic old-school pub vibe, perfect for all ages, with a great atmosphere for watching sports like ice hockey.
  • The food is spot on; generous portions, reasonably priced, and they've even got vegan options, which is a nice touch in the city centre.
  • Accessibility is handled really well – the team goes out of their way to help, like sorting out a ramp for wheelchairs, which is thoughtful and inclusive.
  • The outdoor garden is lovely, with plenty of seating and a relaxed feel, ideal for a casual catch-up on a sunny day.
Cons
  • It's a real shame that the pub is closing soon to make way for student accommodation, so you might want to visit sooner rather than later before it's gone for good.
  • Upkeep can be a challenge in such a busy city spot, which might mean things aren't always as polished as you'd hope, especially with the overheads involved.
  • There haven't been any recent reviews, so it feels like the buzz has quieted down a bit, even though the overall rating is still strong.

Great old school proper pub that caters for all age groups. Very welcoming staff. Just a shame is being closed at the beginning of November to make room for yet more student accommodation. End of yet another place full of great memories.

Went in here before we went next door to see James Blunt ..... my partner nipped in to ask if he could leave my wheelchair just inside somewhere if i walked in (I'm able to walk a short walk on the arm of someone) anyway the bar staff came out & produced a ramp!! So we went in & got a drink & had a look at the food menu & ordered some food. It was very reasonable & tasty!! & the landlady played James Blunt songs for me too!! All in all a very enjoyable afternoon & fabulous staff!!

Really good down to earth establishment. We went when it was quiet at 5pm. We ordered Chilli con carni with chips and fish and chips. The food came quickly. Generous portions and reasonably priced. Staff welcoming but not over the top. Toilets clean. We came back about 10pm. Very busy but still good service. Well worth a visit.

Owner was so kind. She went above and beyond. Upkeep with such a big property must dip into the overhead especially as it's considered city centre. Nice to have vegan options. Go if you can, garden is terraced with lots of seats and nice people.
