About This Pub
You know, I had a lovely time at the King William IV the other day, and it's one of those pubs that just sticks in your mind for all the right reasons. They've got this brilliant range of real ales and ciders on tap, including some real gems like award-winners that beer enthusiasts will rave about, and it's all served up in a wonderfully quirky, multi-level space with cosy corners and even a rooftop terrace for when you fancy a breather. The staff are absolute stars, always up for a chat and making sure everyone feels welcome, which really adds to the warm, community feel. Plus, the food from their TexMex spot is a proper treat – fresh, tasty dishes that are vegan and gluten-free but don't feel like it at all. On the downside, though, the kitchen's only open a few evenings a week, so if you're there on a quiet Monday or Sunday, you'll have to skip the grub. And while the prices are fair for what you get, it might not be the go-to if you're trying to keep things budget-friendly. All in all, it's a gem for anyone after a genuine pub experience with good company and a bit of character, but it's worth checking the timings if food's on your mind.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
Fantastic selection of real ales and ciders, with award-winning options and a rotating lineup from local and distant breweries that keeps things exciting.
-
Incredibly friendly staff and a welcoming atmosphere that makes you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
Top-notch food from Carolina's TexMex, which is fresh, delicious, and surprisingly filling – all vegan and gluten-free without compromising on taste.
-
Charming, quirky interior with multiple levels, cosy nooks, and even a rooftop terrace for a bit of outdoor relaxation when the weather's nice.
-
Lively events like Thursday folk sessions and annual festivals that add a real community vibe and make it more than just a standard pub.
Cons
-
The kitchen's only open from Wednesday to Saturday evenings, so if you're popping in on other days, you'll miss out on the food options.
-
While the prices are reasonable for the quality, the drinks aren't the cheapest around, which might add up if you're in for a long session.
-
There are some restrictions due to licensing, like limitations for children, so it might not be the best spot for family outings with little ones.

This place was a godsend! We came here for the food, which was absolutely outstanding! We got too excited and ordered loads. It was fresh, hot, filling and delicious! The pub itself is old fashioned and quirky. Really cosy and friendly. We loved it!
A cool pub that has good music and atmosphere. Bar staff were very friendly and the crowd seemed nice. I appreciated the seating. I wouldn’t call the pints here cheap but there is a decent selection on tap. The downstairs area is really chill with lots of interesting decor. The upstairs space is nice and with better ventilation.
I rated the food low because it was practically inedible for me. I don’t particularly like spice but I can handle it and my partner loves spicy food. But it was too spicy for both of us. It was very disappointing considering the price range, it was not worth the money I paid for. The food ingredients were not clearly labelled and I believe it was all vegan, which could have been more clear. I have eaten bigger meals for cheaper at other pubs.
Overall a groovy vibe here but ultimately let down by a poor quality meal. Really sorry! But I definitely will be coming back for a pint and to hang out downstairs.
First time visiting this pub after a recommendation and wow what an amazing pub, now my favourite pub in Nottingham. I love flat cider and they had 8 to choose from.
Very friendly landlord, was made to feel very welcome.
This pub has lots of different rooms and even a rooftop terrace area with its own Vegi Tex mex food kitchen.
Its Dog friendly. They have music and comedy events.
They have free fast wifi (64Mbps down/21Mbps up)
I will definitely be visiting this pub again soon.
I have added lots of 360 degree photos for Google Streetview.
Look forward to returning to this pub again in the future.
Oh wow - what a fantastic pub, multi levelled and even has its own roof terrace.
Terrific service of some of the more obscure cask ales. A really friendly pub with both chatty staff and customers. A pleasure to call in for a pint.
Excellent pub about 15 minutes walk from Nottingham Railway Station. Eight cask beers on handpump when I visited including a stout plus a range of real ciders. Lots of outdoor seating upstairs some of it covered.
The pub is known locally as the King Billy.
