About This Pub

You know, chatting about The Nottingham House in Cleethorpes, it's one of those classic pubs that really draws you in with its cosy feel and the way the staff make everything so welcoming – it's like popping round to a mate's for a catch-up. They've got a great atmosphere for just relaxing with a drink or enjoying a laugh with friends, and the prices on the drinks are fair enough that you don't have to worry about the tab adding up too quickly. When the food's on form, like their Sunday roast, it's genuinely spot on and feels like proper home-cooked grub. Plus, if you're out with your dog, there's a section that's welcoming for them, which is a nice touch for a casual day out. On the downside, though, it's not all smooth sailing – some folks have mentioned the food falling short, with things like fish and chips not quite up to scratch or chicken that's a bit tough and bland, which could put a dampener on your visit. Service can be a mixed bag too, with stories of having to chase for drinks or no menu in sight, making it feel a tad disorganised at times. All in all, it's a solid spot for a pint and a chat, but I'd say go in with an open mind and maybe stick to the drinks if you're not feeling adventurous with the grub – that way, you're set for a good time without any surprises.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
  • It's got a lovely, cosy atmosphere that's perfect for catching up with mates over a pint or a game of cards.
  • When the food hits the spot, it's brilliant – think delicious Sunday roasts and tasty chips that keep you coming back.
  • Drinks are reasonably priced, so you won't feel like you're splashing out just for a round.
  • Part of the pub is dog-friendly, which is great if you're popping in with your four-legged companion for a relaxed outing.
Cons
  • Food quality can be a bit inconsistent; some dishes like fish and chips or chicken might not live up to expectations and end up disappointing.
  • Service can sometimes be slow or forgetful, like having to ask twice for drinks or not having a proper menu on hand.
  • There's no clear menu for certain meals, such as Sunday lunch, which might leave you unsure about options or portion sizes.
  • Not the whole venue is dog-friendly, so you might have to stick to specific areas, which could be a hassle if you're with your pet.
  • It feels a tad unorganised in places, with things like a simple piece of paper for the lager list rather than something more polished.

Visited today with 7 lady friends, must say the we were all disappointed with the food. As a Grimsby lass I can say the fish & chips were not up to standard and friends that had chicken dishes said it was very hard and tasteless. Needless to say none of us will be back any time soon.

Went as we had seen other reviews say the food was amazing and it was dog friendly. The left half is dog friendly and the right half is not. We had 2 children's meals "sausage" which were battered and deep fried which we weren't expecting. The chips were really delicious but there was a lot of fried food. The staff were so lovely though but unfortunately it was very quiet when we went and so the atmosphere was dead.

Visited yesterday for the first time for Sunday lunch Sadly had to ask for our drinks twice - the lager list was just a piece of paper !? Even though it was "Sunday " lunch there was no menu so we were aware of choice, size etc It was chicken, pork, gammon, lamb & beef. The food was delicious - real mash, real roasties and the Yorkshire & stuffing were splendid. Plenty of great gravy & the Yorkshire puds could have been warmer but all in all great food £33 for two of us. Will go again 🙂

A lovely cosy little pub with a great atmosphere. The lady who served us was friendly and welcoming. A group of 10 of us stayed for about an hour enjoying a few drinks, card games, good fun and laughs. We didn't eat so I can't comment on food but the drinks prices were reasonable. We would definitely return.
