About This Pub
Ah, The Mermaid, what a spot it is in St Albans – I've got to say, it's one of those pubs that just warms your heart from the moment you step in. From the reviews, it's clear folks absolutely love the live music scenes, particularly those Sunday afternoon gigs that turn the garden into a buzzing hub of all sorts of people enjoying great tunes and a chat. The real ales are spot on, well-kept and with a solid variety, paired with a gin station that's a real treat for anyone who fancies something a bit special. It's dog-friendly and has nice outdoor areas, making it ideal for a relaxed afternoon or evening with mates. On the flip side, it does get busy, and you might find yourself navigating a queue at the bar where not everyone's as patient as they'd like to be, so plan accordingly if you're not up for a crowd. Overall, it's a solid 4.5-rated place with heaps of positive vibes, but like any good pub, it's not without its little quirks – I'd definitely recommend popping in for the experience, as long as you're up for a bit of hustle and bustle.

The operating hours seem a tad inconsistent from what's listed, so it's worth double-checking to avoid any surprises.

Had a fabulous time with my daughter, and we met up with some amazing people. The band was great. Very friendly atmosphere. Thank you, ladies for a wonderful day
St Albans' best pub by far. Very well kept real ales, good friendly service, decent prices, and a great mix of people. The Sunday afternoon gigs are quite a phenomenon, with people from all walks of life enjoying live music in the lovely re-fashioned garden that used to be the car park! New ladies toilet block built last year.
This is my favourite pub in St Albans! It is very ‘no bu*****t’ and reminds me of how pubs were in the 90s! I love this pub and I hope it never changes
Great vibe with live music (Pat & The Butchers) on a Sunday night. Lovely outdoor space and area.
Bar staff busy and friendly. Just keep an eye on folk pushing in when busy and all play nicely at the bar.
