About This Pub

Ah, The Mayfair – it's one of those places in Harrogate that really knows how to pull off a great time, especially if you're up for some top-notch food and catching the latest match. I have to say, the grub here is a real highlight; think well-presented Sunday roasts that leave you feeling chuffed, and it's all served with a smile from the friendly team behind the bar. They're dead keen on sports too, with heaps of screens making sure you don't miss a second of the action, and they've got some smashing deals on beers and bites that make it even better. Weekends are where it shines brightest, with DJs spinning tunes and cocktails on offer that keep the energy high until late. But, let's be honest, it's not all perfect – I've heard a few grumbles about the service dragging on, like waiting ages for a pint when you're parched, and that Europop blasting over the game commentary can be a right nuisance if you're trying to focus. Then there's the odd instance where the manager seems eager to call time early, which might leave you feeling a tad short-changed on a busy night. All in all, though, it's a welcoming spot that's worth a visit if you're after a bit of fun and flavour, just go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a whale of a time.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely spot on – finger-licking good with well-cooked dishes that make for a proper satisfying meal, especially their Sunday dinners.
  • It's a brilliant spot for catching live sports with loads of screens and projectors, covering all the big games from Sky Sports, TNT, and Amazon Prime, plus some cracking deals on drinks and food during matches.
  • The staff are really lovely and welcoming, making you feel right at home, and they've got a fun vibe with DJs and cocktails on weekends that keep the party going until the early hours.
  • Great value for money overall, with affordable drinks packages and a lively atmosphere that's perfect for a night out in Harrogate.
Cons
  • Service can be a bit on the slow side, with waits of over 10 minutes for drinks, which might put a dampener on things if you're in a rush.
  • They sometimes play Europop music over the sports commentary, which feels a bit off and frustrating when you're trying to enjoy the game.
  • The management has been known to hurry folks along towards closing time, even when it's still buzzing, which can make you feel like you're being nudged out before the fun's over.

Manager spent the last hour of business repeatedly telling myself and other customers the bar would shut at 10pm. This dissuaded customers from ordering drinks as it felt you were being kicked out before time. A rather bizarre approach from a business when there's about 30 odd customers still present drinking many of whom would have ordered another drink. Myself and others decided to leave rather than order another drink as didn't feel welcome. Spent our money in Rowlands instead which was open until midnight.

Really nice new bar in Harrogate, just two issues. The service is SO slow, been in twice now and each time well over 10 minutes to get a drink. And the really frustrating thing is it's supposed to be a sports bar, but whilst showing the football they insist on playing awful Europop rather than the actual commentary. Sort these two things out and it could be great

I was pleasantly surprised at how good the food was. Well cooked, well presented, and well served. We were there for Sunday dinner and we couldn't fault the food. Meal was a little slow arriving but it was late in the day. Well done everyone, we will definitely be back x

What a lovely addition to Harrogate. I visited this weekend and oh my what a lovely addition to Harrogate night life. The staff are so lovely. Kieran served me on their upstairs bar and I had such a wonderful evening. Can’t wait to go back! I’ve not tried the food yet but you bet I will be!
