About This Pub
Ah, the Marquis of Granby – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper gem in the middle of London, doesn't it? From what I've gathered, folks are raving about the food; the fish and chips come out golden and not at all greasy, and the pies are a real standout with plenty of variety, which is a nice change from the usual pub fare you see everywhere. The staff really shine too – stories of them helping out with beer choices or going above and beyond make it sound like they genuinely care about your experience. And let's not forget the beer selection; it's got that authentic cask feel that'll please any ale enthusiast. On the flip side, it can get a bit sluggish on service when things pick up, so if you're popping in after a big event, you might have to be patient. Plus, with the odd closure here and there, it's smart to plan ahead. All in all, it's a solid choice for a relaxed evening out, blending history, good grub, and friendly vibes in a way that leaves you wanting to come back for more.
Pros and Cons

The food is absolutely spot on – think delicious fish and chips that's golden and tender, plus a fantastic range of pies that really hit the spot for classic British grub.
-
The staff are top-notch and really go the extra mile; they've got a knack for recommending beers and providing that warm, welcoming service that makes you feel right at home.
-
You've got a cracking selection of cask beers and other drinks to choose from, perfect for anyone looking to sample something special.
-
It's got that charming historic vibe, with a rich backstory tied to an 18th-century war hero, making it a unique spot in the heart of Westminster.
-
The atmosphere is just right – not too packed, so you can enjoy a relaxed chat without the hustle and bustle overwhelming things.
Cons
-
Service can get a tad slow when the place is buzzing, especially after events like concerts, so it might not be ideal if you're in a rush.
-
It seems to have some irregular hours or closures, so it's worth double-checking the schedule to avoid any disappointment.

We had the fish and chips and they were quite delicious. Not greasy at all. Golden fried and tender. Chelsea was great and helped me navigate the beer menu. Great service and very nice.
It was amazing nice service from Rory. He stood out from all the rest of the team when they were hanging along pretending to be busy. He came out of his way to stand out and gave great hospitality. You should recognise him. Thank you
After music concert, looking for a place to drink and it was just right there next to it. Nice place with cool ambience. Service was bit slow because they were busy. They were offering variety of cask beers. There was a board outside the pub which gives all its history going back to 18th century.
Warning: California/Oregon Native here so this review will have a west coast American bias.
We came to this pub for lunch on our stopover in London. I’m a big Fish & Chips fan so that’s what I wanted when we got back into the UK.
The guys at the bar were really cool and made some good beer recommendations as I hadn’t had a lot of English beers before. I ordered up the Nicholsons Fish & Chips and my wife decided to try one of the famous pies. I’m almost positive she picked the Hand-Pulled Lamb Shank Shepherd’s Pie…but I was quite jet lagged and I don’t remember for sure. Either way, it was good for the 1-2 bites I had. It was very rich and filling though so she didn’t finish the pastry part. I was very happy with my Fish & Chips. The fish was super crispy and perfectly battered. The fries were some of the better cooked ones I had while I was in London so I was happy about that. Had a good crisp and just had more flavor than others.
All in all, a nice fun little pub that was within walking distance of our hotel (The Westminster). Good food that came out pretty quickly and friendly staff. It was a little odd drinking room temperature beer, but it was still tasty and it was so cold outside it didn't bother me much. I’d definitely eat here again if/when I’m in London again.
Finally, an actual brittish pub with a unique menu. (most pubs in London all share the same menu).
Great options of different type of pies. And they were amazing too! Plenty of beers to choose from.
Also not too crowded.
