About This Pub
Ah, The Lion in Solihull – it's one of those pubs that really feels like the heart of the community, you know? From what I've gathered chatting about it, the place has this warm, family-friendly vibe that's just spot on for meeting up with mates for a pint or enjoying a family meal. They've nailed the drinks menu with an explorative selection of beers, wines, and even thoughtful low-alcohol choices, and it's a proper haven for sports enthusiasts with all those channels showing the big games. The outdoor garden and fun activities like pool and darts add a nice touch for keeping things entertaining. On the downside, it can fill up in a flash during busy events, so you might end up standing or missing out on a table, and there have been a few grumbles about inconsistent updates on their opening times or phone responsiveness, which could throw a spanner in the works if you're relying on it. All in all, with a solid 4.2 rating from the crowd, it's worth a visit if you're after a relaxed spot, just keep an eye on the timing to avoid any hassles – it's got that classic pub charm with room for a bit of improvement.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
It's got a lovely, welcoming atmosphere that's perfect for families and groups of mates, making it a great spot for casual catch-ups or celebrations.
-
The drink selection is spot on, with a wide range of beers, ciders, wines, cocktails, and even low or no-alcohol options to suit everyone.
-
They're brilliant for sports fans, offering loads of channels like Sky Sports, ESPN, TNT, and Amazon Prime, plus extras like a pool table and dart board to keep things lively.
-
There's plenty of outdoor seating in the garden and a car park, which makes it convenient and enjoyable, especially on nicer days.
Cons
-
It can get really busy, especially during events or matches, so you might struggle to find a seat inside and need to arrive early.
-
There have been some issues with them not updating their status online or answering the phone promptly, which could lead to frustration if you're planning a visit.
-
A few folks have mentioned it's not always clear if they're open, potentially sending you elsewhere like Wetherspoons when you'd rather be there.

why is this establishment closed with updating Google so we can all see? NO putting closed on the door? Whoever runs establishment. You’re losing money while we all go into Wetherspoons. Try answering the phone, especially when the lights are on and nobody is home.
We had a great Friday night here as there was a party in the other room it got fairly busy
Perfect for families and party crowds alike. My family have visited this bar for a meal and drinks - great choice of food and excellent value. Toni looks after everybody. For the lads and ladies on a session - great selection of beers, wines and spirits - brilliant atmosphere, I really recommend this bar. Recommended establishment from the SR.
Very nice inside after a big refurb. Great choice of alcohol. Great sports bar with a pool table and dart board. Not many seats in there so you need to get there early if you want to be in there for a football match. Outside has plenty of seating with a telly outside.
Great recent renovation, really impressed. Had a lovely breakfast here.
