About This Pub
Ah, The Lamplighter—it's one of those local gems in Hounslow that really pulls you in with its welcoming vibe and that sense of community where you can pop in for a pint and end up chatting away the evening. I love how the staff go out of their way to make everyone feel at ease, and the live music on weekends adds a fun, lively touch that gets people up and involved. Plus, their drink deals are spot on for value, and if you're a fan of sports, there are plenty of screens to catch the big games without any fuss. On the flip side, though, I've heard from a few mates that things haven't been quite the same since the new management took over—complaints about grubby toilets and slip-ups like serving wine in the wrong glasses really take the shine off. It's a shame because it could be even better with a bit more attention to those details, but overall, if you're after a straightforward, affordable spot for a good natter and a drink, it's still worth a visit, just keep your expectations in check for now.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff at The Lamplighter are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got a real community vibe, where folks seem to know each other, and there's a great atmosphere especially on weekends with live music and karaoke.
-
They offer unbeatable drink deals and a wide selection of beers, lagers, and even special ones like their exclusive 'The Coffee'—perfect for a relaxed pint.
-
The pub is spacious and less crowded than some nearby spots, making it easier to enjoy live sports on the TVs without the hustle and bustle.
-
Prices are reasonable, giving good value for money, especially if you're into watching football, rugby, or horse racing in a laid-back setting.
Cons
-
Under the new management, things have slipped a bit—some visitors have mentioned dirty toilets and a general deterioration in standards.
-
There have been issues with serving drinks properly, like wine being poured into half-pint beer glasses because they lacked the right glassware or even a corkscrew for red wine.
-
The closing times seem to be earlier than expected, which might cut short your evening if you're hoping for a late-night catch-up.
-
It can feel a tad inconsistent, with some reviews noting that it's not as reliable as it was before the management change.

First visit had a great evening made welcome by the bar staff and customers
Have been using this pub for a long time and was always good under Marks management. However now under new management what a deterioration no wine glasses served wine in 1/2 pint beer glass no red wine as no corkscrew dirty toilets earlier closing time so disappointed
Friendly, no-frills pub offering good value for money to lager drinkers and viewers of sport on TVs. Large, spacious pub with good service and exceptionally friendly bar staff. Pints here are only slightly more expensive than Wetherspoons a few doors up but The Lamplighter is far less crowded and noisy than its neighbour, plus customers here are usually able to easily find a good seat to enjoy their their drinks and the sports on the big TV. The only aspect which let's this pub down is that the decor seems tired and there can be smell of mould at tables in the corner by the front window in my experience.
Great place during the weekends. They have cheerful, fun , karoke type live music on Friday, Sat &Sunday. The staff are hard working , efficient and friendly enough. Most folks seem to know each other , so there is a sort of prevailing community spirit in existence. The drink prices are very reasonable and probably cheaper than the Weatherspoons next door. Definitely worth a try if u are in neighborhood during the weekend.
A great atmosphere and location. Excellent, lovely, very efficient and multi tasking staff. A wide selection of beers - craft and cask. Proper cider and a LampLighter exclusive “The Coffee” a must try. Also has the most friendliest staff and customers I’ve come across, What more do you want?
Yes, it can be packed but that is because it's such a great pub and the staff will get you served quicker than any other pub I know.
