About This Pub

Ah, Bulstrode Pub – what a gem in the heart of Hounslow, isn't it? I have to say, popping in feels like a proper step back to its 15th-century roots, with that classic British pub atmosphere mixed in with some delicious Indian flavours that really hit the spot. The drinks are spot on, offering great value and a nice selection of cocktails, and it's just so convenient being right by the tube station – perfect if you're nipping in for a quick one or settling in for the evening. Their outdoor garden is a absolute highlight; it's pet-friendly and heated, making it a cosy retreat even when the weather's playing up, and they've got events like live bands that can turn a regular night into something memorable. On the flip side, though, I've heard a few tales about it not feeling the safest, especially for women, with some describing the vibe as a bit dodgy despite the friendly staff. And let's be honest, the music can sometimes crank up a notch too high, which might not suit everyone if you're after a peaceful chat. Overall, it's a solid choice for a laid-back meet-up or trying out their tasty menu, but it's worth keeping those little niggles in mind to make sure it suits your fancy – after all, it's all about finding that perfect pub balance, right?

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • It's got that wonderful historic charm as a 15th-century pub, making you feel like you're stepping back in time while enjoying a pint.
  • The Indian food menu is a real treat – fresh, tasty dishes that pair brilliantly with their great value drinks and cocktails.
  • Location is spot on, right near Hounslow Central Tube Station, with free parking and easy access, perfect for a quick stop or a relaxed evening.
  • They've got a lovely outdoor garden that's pet-friendly and heated, ideal for winding down with friends on a sunny day or even when it's a bit nippy.
  • Events like live music and special offers add a fun vibe, and it's family-friendly until late, with free WiFi to boot.
Cons
  • Some folks have mentioned safety concerns, especially for women, with the atmosphere feeling a bit dodgy at times despite polite security.
  • The music can be hit or miss – it's great for some events, but it might get too loud or not everyone's cup of tea, potentially spoiling a quiet drink.
  • While it's generally affordable, the overall feel of the place can be mixed, with a few reviews suggesting it doesn't always live up to its historic billing in terms of upkeep or vibe.

This pub is just a couple of steps away from the underground station. I highly recommend it to transit travelers who are bored from the hotel bars and want to try something local and authentic, as well as cheaper. The bar has a mix of styles, with a British pub vibe and an authentic Indian food menu. It has a good capacity for both indoor and outdoor guests, and it even has a dancing floor well equipped for parties. They seem to throw some theme nights with live music and DJ performances. This is my first visit to this place, and I’m giving them four stars. I hope to return in the evening sometime soo during peak hours to give them a more accurate rating, either higher or lower.

Food, drinks and service was nice, but the pub itself is dodgy. Not the safest place for women - security are polite, but not active in protecting the safety of women. Doubt I'd go again.

I was at Bulstrode for a private engagement party in their garden facilities. Great atmosphere. The food brought out was buffet food but the sheekh kebabs, wings and chicken tikka were amazing. Fully stocked bar and friendly bar staff. I want to go back and try the other food on the menu. Small but free parking area. Just tell the staff and they will register your car.

Visited in November 2021 while staying the night in Hounslow before an early morning flight back to the states. A friend of mine recommended the Bulstrode Pub despite not having been in 20+ years, so I figured it was a bit of a roll of the dice. It was lively, but not packed and was able to secure a table extremely easily. Several pale ales and dinner from the Indian menu later I have to say this was a really good decision! The food was outstanding and the drinks kept coming; can you ask for anything more?
