About This Pub
Ah, Cold Bath Brewing Co – it's one of those places in Harrogate that really gets the heart of what makes a great pub tick. Picture this: you're settling in with a pint of their refreshingly refined beer, maybe a Cold Bath Lager or that alcohol-free pale ale that's become a bit of a favourite, and the sun's out on their terrace. The atmosphere is just right – spacious, welcoming, and dog-friendly, so it's ideal if you're out with mates or even the family pooch. The food's another winner; their Asian street food is tasty and hits the spot, especially when you're pairing it with one of their brews. They've got events covered too, with a private space and mobile bar that could elevate any gathering. But, let's keep it real, it's not all perfect roses. I've heard from a few that the staff aren't always as warm as you'd expect – sometimes they come across as a bit offhand, which can dampen the mood. And service-wise, there have been tales of waits for food that stretch on, or not being clued in about closing times, leaving you to wrap up quicker than planned. Still, with an overall rating pushing 4.7, it's clear most folks leave chuffed. If you're a beer lover in Harrogate, it's worth a visit – just go in with realistic expectations and you'll likely have a smashing time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beer selection is absolutely spot on – they've got a fantastic range of their own brews, from crisp lagers to tasty IPAs, all made with that fresh Yorkshire spring water that really shines through.
-
It's super dog-friendly, which is brilliant if you're out for a stroll and fancy popping in with your furry friend.
-
The food is a real highlight; think delicious Asian street food and a good variety of bar snacks that pair perfectly with the beers.
-
Spacious inside and out, with a sunny terrace that's ideal for a relaxed afternoon or evening, and it's covered so you can enjoy it even if the weather's a bit iffy.
-
They're great for events, offering a private space, mobile bar, and even in-house catering, making it a top choice for weddings or parties in Harrogate.
Cons
-
Staff friendliness can be hit or miss; some visits feel welcoming, but others have folks mentioning they seemed a tad moody or not as chatty as you'd hope.
-
Service can drag a bit at times, like waiting ages for food or not getting a heads-up about the terrace closing, which might leave you rushing your pint.
-
The cask beer options are a bit limited compared to the keg ones, so if you're a traditional ale enthusiast, you might find yourself wanting more variety.

Great selection of beers and ales, and the wine on offer was excellent. Dog friendly. Visited on a Friday early evening and the place filled up quickly. Lovely sunny spot at the end of the day. The food was very tasty. Expected the staff to be a lot friendlier from the reviews but they seemed more interested in each other, it was busy however struggled to get a smile even when being served.
The bar staff were a little moody but food was great....however we ordered at 21:11 & were served our food at 21:54. Started to eat & then were told the terrace was closing at 22:00. There was no issue with this, but it would have been better if we were made aware when our food was served
Good range of beers, only one cider. They do food in house which you can order using a QR code which is handy.
Impressive draft beer selection from the category 1 to 10. Owner recommended 5 1/2 option - perfect for a larger pour. 🍺 love it 😍 and it would be the best tap larger I tried so far in the UK, this is probably due to the local spring water.
Friendly staff with a good selection of beers, particularly their own. Mainly keg with a small cask offering. A large choice of bar snacks available (main food offering was not available at the time of my visit). Spacious inside and out, with a roof over the outside seating so was still decent when raining. I'd say it was lacking a little bit of what I would class as top class craft beer but still nice.
