About This Pub
Ah, the Red Lion in Bushey – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a second home, doesn't it? From what I've gathered, it's bang in the heart of the village, serving up some seriously tasty grub like those massive Sunday roasts and fresh sandwiches that folks rave about. The staff are a real highlight; they're always up for a chat and make everyone feel welcome, which is just what you want after a long week. Plus, with quiz nights and live sport on offer, there's always something going on to keep things lively, and that beer garden is a treat when the weather's nice. On the flip side, the opening times can be a tad muddled, so you might end up scratching your head trying to confirm when they're actually serving. And let's be honest, it does get packed during the busy spells, which could put a damper on things if you're after a peaceful spot. All in all, though, it's a solid choice for a good night out – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, as the positives far outweigh the little niggles, and you'll likely leave with a smile.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – think delicious Sunday roasts, juicy burgers, and even a cracking Pimm’s Afternoon Tea that really hits the spot for a relaxed get-together.
-
The staff are so welcoming and chatty, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in, which adds a lovely community vibe.
-
It's got a great atmosphere with regular events like quiz nights and live sport, plus a beer garden that's perfect for soaking up the sun on a summer day.
-
They've got a solid selection of real ales and other drinks, and it's family-friendly with amenities like Wi-Fi and accessible facilities.
-
Prices are reasonable for the quality, making it a brilliant spot for a casual meal or a pint without breaking the bank.
Cons
-
The operating hours can seem a bit confusing from what's listed, so it's worth double-checking to avoid any disappointment if you're planning a visit.
-
It might get quite busy during peak times or events, which could mean waits for tables or a more lively crowd than you'd fancy on a quiet evening.
-
While the website highlights plenty of positives, it doesn't always feel the most straightforward to navigate, so you might need to look elsewhere for the latest details.

Food’s always amazing! We love the double chicken burger! My other half loves their Sunday roasts! Specifically the turkey, always hot and massive, the extra yorkies are a must! Staff are always helpful and supper chatty to everyone.
We found a table for three straight away on a bank holiday Monday, the service was friendly, polite and helpful. We all had gammon steak with chips, and we all agreed that it was delicious. Followed with a tasty sticky toffee pudding and custard. While washed down with a cold, smooth pint of Guinness and life is good.
On a side note, there is plenty of paid parking in the back that we paid three pounds. But when leaving, we see the machine at the bar for your car registration. So might be free.
I really enjoy coming to The Red Lion for dinner and the occasional lunch. Great atmosphere and friendly staff that makes you feel really welcomed. Prices are quite reasonable and very good quality. Beautiful outdoors garden space.
Great experience at the Red lion in Bushey.
Lucy the host was very accommodating and looked after myself and a friend for lunch. Shout out to Beth the chef for the day for my amazing Tomato, mozzarella and Avocado sandwich.
