About This Pub
Ah, The Horse & Chains – it's one of those pubs that just feels like a proper local gem in Bushey, you know? From what I've gathered from folks' chats online, the food is a real winner; whether it's a hearty Sunday roast or something lighter, it's all cooked to perfection and leaves you satisfied without breaking the bank. The team there are dead lovely, always up for a chat and making sure everything runs smoothly, which makes for a welcoming spot to unwind. They've got live music on some nights too, which can turn a quiet evening into something a bit more lively and fun. On the flip side, it does tend to be on the quieter side sometimes, so if you're hoping for a packed house with plenty of chatter, you might find it a tad subdued. And with it only open five days a week, it's worth checking ahead if you're not a local. All in all, it's a solid choice for good grub and a relaxed pint, but just keep those little niggles in mind for the full picture.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on – think beautifully cooked roasts and other tasty options that really hit the mark for a traditional British meal.
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and professional, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
It's got a lovely, welcoming atmosphere with live music on some evenings, which adds a fun touch and keeps things entertaining.
-
The place is spotlessly clean and well-organised, ideal for a relaxed lunch or dinner without any fuss.
Cons
-
It can be a bit quiet at times, like on a Friday lunchtime, so if you're after a buzzing, lively pub vibe, it might not always deliver.
-
Only open five days a week, which could be a downside if you're planning a spontaneous visit on the closed days.
-
The website is pretty basic, so you might need to pop in or give them a ring to get all the details you need.

Not busy ona Friday lunchtime which was perfect. Beautifully cooked food and lovely team, the dog was especially friendly! Will return. Joined the FB page to se when they have live music on.
I had a brief experience at The Horse and Chains, so I can’t provide a full assessment, especially since I visited in the afternoon when it was quiet. Therefore, I can’t fairly judge the efficiency of the service. However, I can say that the place is very clean, well-organized, and beautifully decorated. It has a charming atmosphere. I took some photos so you can see for yourself!
We were staying with friends in Bushey and decided to go to the Horse & Chains for New Year's Eve Party Night. What a brilliant evening it was with a proper good old pub atmosphere. They had a singer called Andy on that night who covered all eras and really got the place going and in a party mood. If you are local the Horse & Chains would definitely be a good place to go to. It's such a shame we live over 100 miles away.
Had a lovely Sunday Lunch but other options were available. Didn’t have room for dessert but cappuccino was very good. We will definitely book again. Enjoyed a mulled wine before our roast.
Really lovely atmosphere within the restaurant. I went for my fathers birthday surprise meal and it was a wonderful evening! Some nights there is live music was is always entertaining and enjoyable. The staff here are very friendly and professional. The food here also is delicious and there is something for everyone! 5 stats would recommend!
