About This Pub

Ah, The Kettle Cafe & Bar – it's one of those unassuming places in Darwen that really warms the cockles with its top-notch food and friendly vibe. From what I've gathered from the reviews, most people are over the moon about the meals; think hearty breakfasts and scrumptious pies that leave you wanting more, all at prices that won't sting your wallet. The atmosphere sounds just right for a laid-back chat with mates, and the team behind the counter clearly go the extra mile to make everyone feel welcome. On the flip side, it's a shame about the coffee – one person had a rough go with it being weak and hotter than a summer's day, so you might want to skip that and stick to the food if you're fussy. All in all, with such a strong rating overall, it's well worth popping in if you're nearby, just keep an eye on those opening times to avoid disappointment. What do you reckon, shall we give it a try sometime?

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely scrumptious – their breakfasts and pies have folks raving, with one mate saying it was the best they've ever tucked into.
  • The staff and owners are so friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home from the moment you step in.
  • It's a charming little spot with a lovely atmosphere, perfect for a relaxed catch-up over a meal.
  • Prices are spot on for a casual outing, offering great value without breaking the bank.
Cons
  • Coffee can be a bit of a letdown, with one review mentioning it was weak and piping hot – not ideal if you're after a proper brew.
  • Opening hours are quite limited, mostly wrapping up by early afternoon and not open every day, so you'll need to plan ahead.

I ordered 2 coffees to take away, an Americano and a flat white.. my Americano was hotter than the surface of the sun, and was very weak, a refuge bin enjoyed it, as l certainly didn't. My girlfriend had the Flat white which wasn't, it was more like a Latte, and she also said it was weak. Hers also ended up in a bin a bit further down the road. A total waste of £6.60..

Excellent! If I could give more stars I would it was so good. We both had the breakfast. Superb quality ingredients none of the cheap catering sausage and bacon here. Glad I don't live in Darwen as I would be here every day.
