About This Pub
Ah, The Journey's End – it's one of those local pubs in Birmingham that really tries to get it right, you know? From what I've gathered chatting about it with others, the staff are an absolute delight, always up for a chat and making you feel welcome, and that beer garden is just brilliant for a sunny day, with its lush grass and trees making it feel like a proper escape from the hustle. They've put effort into the menu too, with fresh ingredients and options for everyone, plus it's great value, which is always a win when you're out for a pint or a meal with friends. It's also nice to see them giving back to the community, like fundraising for charities or lending out their space for free. But, and I have to be straight here, it's not all smooth sailing – some folks have had a rough time with waits for food that drag on forever, or when delivery orders get priority, leaving you staring at the menu feeling a bit forgotten. Then there's the odd disappointing meal, like that Christmas lunch that didn't live up to the hype with subpar sides. Overall, it's a solid spot for a relaxed evening or family get-together, but I'd say it's worth going in with realistic expectations so you can enjoy the highs and navigate the lows. If you're in the area, give it a try and see for yourself – it's got that community spirit that makes British pubs so special.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are incredibly friendly and welcoming, making you feel right at home as soon as you walk in.
-
The beer garden is an absolute gem – proper grass, beautiful trees, and plenty of seating for a relaxing afternoon in the sun.
-
They've got a great selection of fresh, quality food including vegan and vegetarian options, all at honest, fair prices.
-
It's a real community hub, supporting local charities and offering their function area for free to groups, which is just lovely.
-
The atmosphere is spot on for catching up with mates, watching sport, or enjoying a meal – it's got that traditional pub feel with a bit of extra charm.
Cons
-
Service can be inconsistent, with some reports of long waits for food, like over an hour, which puts a dampener on the day.
-
They sometimes prioritise delivery orders over people waiting in the pub, which feels a bit unfair when you're sat there getting peckish.
-
Food quality isn't always reliable; for instance, a Christmas lunch was disappointing with tinned veg and frozen bits, even if the turkey was alright.
-
There have been times when staff were chatting away instead of serving, leaving folks standing around feeling a tad ignored.
-
While it's generally affordable, the occasional slip-ups in service might make you think twice about popping in for a quick bite.

We walked around 15 mins to this pub... We were unsure what to expect but it was lovely. The staff were friendly on arrival... The sun was out so we made our way into the beer garden which was really nice. Proper grass and beautiful trees and lots of seating. We had a really enjoyable afternoon.
Lovely place, good atmosphere and alright prices on drink and food would recommend. Staff really lovely and customers really friendly 😊
Useless. Wasn't told there was a wait for food when ordering. Waited over an hour for the meals to come out. Complained and was told they do delivery orders as a priority which is nice while sat there think about eating the napkins.
Great place for food and people. But recently banned dogs from main bar. Which isn’t a problem. But when having to stand the the “dog” bar for over 10 minutes. Watching 3 staff chatting and not serving anyone. Isn’t good enough. Left the pub and went elsewhere where customers are served.
I have been to this pub for food before and it was beautiful! However a group of 9 went for Christmas lunch there yesterday 25/12/24 and it was disgusting I’ve given it a 2 star only because the turkey was ok but as for the rest of the lunch it was awful tinned carrots frozen small roasters and frozen round stuffing ball witch was put inside the Yorkshire pudding and gravy inside thinking the gravy would soften it up a little.
NEVER AGAIN!!!
