Ordered a chicken biryani from Uber eats. It asked me which "choice of side" I'd like, so I picked raita as a dip. The order turned up as just the rice and raita, no sauce... who orders curry without sauce? Not me... it was misleading and i wasn't able to get any sort of fix from Uber eats.
First mixy of 2025…. The jolly sailor!
Did some research online and could see they had a ‘mega mixed grill’ and ‘battered chips 3x ways’ so we had to check it out!
First impressions there was nobody in there at 7:30pm on a Thurs night, literally us 6 and 2 other which is a shame. The inside has been refurbed so not the carpet you see on other previous pictures. Big screen tv with the sports on.
Plenty of parking out the front too.
We started off with beers, cobra, Guinness and madri on tap - no complaints!
We went for the chilli chicken, chilli prawns and chicken pakora to start, all really good, nice portion size and lots of flavour!
The mains - x2 mega mixed grills, x1 chilli battered chips, x1 battered masala chips and x3 cheese garlic keema naan!
Sauces provided were in the bottles so unlimited!
The mixy… wings really tasty, 3x chops nice charring and lots of flavour. The tikka was really juicy. Fish pakora… light crispy batter - really good! Only letdown was the shish, pretty rubbery.
Naan bread… incredible… so so good loads of meat in it, recommended.
Battered chips - all good only criticism was the portion size was quite small so needed more.
Would recommend visiting the jolly sailor, service was great, just wish it was busier.. must be down to January diets!
