About This Pub
Ah, The Joint – it's one of those places that just grabs you with its no-fuss, messy charm, perfect for a casual catch-up over some seriously good grub. I've heard from folks that the brunch options, like those fluffy pancakes or the classic English breakfast, are absolute winners, and the BBQ ribs have that smoky flavour that'll have you coming back for seconds. The vibe in Brixton Village is spot on, with its market-edge location making every visit feel like a bit of an adventure, and the staff are always up for a chat, adding to that warm, welcoming feel. On the flip side, it's not without its downsides; tables can be a tad cosy, which might cramp your style if you're in a larger group, and there have been times when the food didn't quite live up to the hype, like when dishes turned up cold or lacked that extra spark. Still, for an inexpensive outing with mates, it's a solid choice that strikes a nice balance between fun and flavour – I'd say give it a go if you're in the area, but maybe keep expectations realistic for a casual joint like this.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The food is absolutely spot on, with standout dishes like the Full Rack Ribs, pancakes, and avocado on toast that leave you wanting more – it's all about that hearty, tasty brunch and BBQ vibe.
-
The atmosphere is brilliant, right in the heart of Brixton Village, making it a perfect spot for a laugh with mates while people-watching and soaking up the lively market energy.
-
Service is top-notch; the staff are friendly and accommodating, letting you linger over your meal without any rush, which really adds to the relaxed feel.
-
It's great value for money as an inexpensive option, with generous portions that hit the spot without breaking the bank.
Cons
-
Tables can feel a bit cramped, so if you're after some personal space, it might not be the most comfortable spot, especially during busy times.
-
Food quality can be hit or miss – some reviews mentioned dishes arriving cold or dry, like the ribs, which is a shame when the rest is so promising.
-
Portions might be generous, but if you're not quick, things like fries can go cold fast, making for a less enjoyable experience overall.

The atmosphere was nice, the service was great. We had the Full Rack Ribs, chips, and coleslaw and also ordered the macaroni cheese balls or something like that. It was tasty indeed. I would definitely go again.
Fantastic food in an amazing setting. The decor is spot on and it's on the edge of Brixton Village Market - Great for people watching.
Food and drinks were awesome! Tasty, well presented and probs were a good size - not too big!!
Only downsides: tablets are close, so you have to move them to get in whilst people are eating next to you.
The staff were a little slow in taking food order and getting the cheque!! But still friendly helpful, just needed a little nudge to get things!
One of our favourite breakfast spots in London. The food is so good we are happy to hike across the city for our breakfast fix
They serve some of the best pancakes in London. The avocado on toast with a poached egg is hubbies favourite. The classic English breakfast is also a favourite and the staff are happy to swap items.
Great coffee, Birchall tea's bear on tap, smoothies snd breakfast cocktails.
The staff are always happy to see you and service is friendly fast and efficient.
Came here for dinner and had a nice time. I had the wings and raclette fries, and my friend had the ribs. The food was good, and they even brought the cheese wheel to the table for the raclette.
We also sat there for a while after, and they were happy to leave us to it, so it was nice to not feel rushed, we were happy with the service.
Everything inc tip came to £16 each, so it was definitely good value for money
The service was really good and the drink were good. They have a great happy hour but the food was utterly disappointing. The ribs came out cold and were dry. The garnish was pointless and added nothing to the dish. The burger was just ok and the raclette fries went cold quickly as the plates were clearly cold
