About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about The Ivy Harrogate – it's one of those places that really knows how to make a good impression. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are just fantastic; they're so attentive and professional without hovering, which makes for a really enjoyable experience, whether you're popping in for breakfast or settling in for a full dinner. The food is another winner – think delicious modern British classics with plenty of options for veggies and vegans, and they've got these tempting menus like the Heritage one that offer great value. The setting is gorgeous too, with its high ceilings and Art-Deco flair that gives off this relaxed, luxurious vibe, perfect for a catch-up with mates or a special occasion. It's smack in the middle of Harrogate, near all the lovely gardens and shops, so it's super convenient. On the flip side, though, it's not without its downsides – the prices are a bit steep, so you might feel the pinch if you're not in the mood for splashing out, and parking's a pain since there's none nearby. Plus, a few folks mentioned it getting chilly with the doors open or the odd dish not hitting the mark on busier days. Overall, it's a solid choice if you're after a polished meal with friends, but just keep those little hiccups in mind to set your expectations right.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The service is absolutely top-notch – it's warm, attentive, and makes you feel right at home, like they're genuinely looking after you from the moment you walk in.
-
The food is a real highlight, with modern British dishes that cater to everyone, including fantastic vegan and vegetarian options, and they even have great deals like the two-course Heritage Menu.
-
The atmosphere is spot on for a relaxed yet sophisticated vibe, with high ceilings, Art-Deco touches, and vibrant colours that give it a lovely informal luxury feel.
-
It's perfectly located in Harrogate, close to parks and shopping, making it ideal for a pre-show dinner or a casual catch-up over drinks.
-
They handle special occasions brilliantly, whether it's a wedding brunch or a solo meal, and the variety of menus means there's something for all tastes and times of day.
Cons
-
Parking can be a bit of a hassle, as there's none on site, which might leave you circling the streets after a lovely meal.
-
It can get a tad chilly inside if the patio doors are open, especially on cooler days, so you might want to bring a light jacket.
-
Prices are on the higher end, so it's not the place for a budget night out – you pay for that fancy feel, but it might not suit everyone.
-
Occasionally, the quality dips on busy days, like we heard about a burger that didn't quite live up to expectations on Boxing Day, so timing your visit might make a difference.

I had an exceptional dinner experience at Ivy Harrogate. From the moment we arrived, the service was warm, attentive, and professional without feeling intrusive. The staff went above and beyond to ensure everything was perfect, from drink recommendations to the timing of each course. The food was beautifully presented and full of flavour, clearly crafted with care and attention to detail. The elegant atmosphere made the evening feel special. Highly recommend for anyone looking for a top-notch dining experience.
Booked for my daughters wedding day brunch here and was not disappointed. The service was excellent, and the food was fantastic with a price tag that I was really pleased about. No parking was the only downside, and it was a little cold when the back patio doors were opened. The decor inside is gorgeous, and you can see why people flock here. It is very highly recommended if you're in the area and want quality food served by attentive well trained staff.
Booked as a gift. Dumped the day before. Went anyway and bless the Ivy staff they blew it out of the water. Thank you for an amazing solo dining experience.
I do recognize that we went on Boxing Day and who wants to work on Boxing Day? However, I still expected high standards from the Ivy, like I have experienced before. The starter was tasty, as was the dessert. I ordered the burger for my main and I expected a high quality burger, since that isn’t too hard to do. Sadly, it was meat and bun and fixings. Bacon wasn’t even properly crispy. Nothing special. The dessert was nice but I don’t remember so much whipped cream on the Chocolate Bomb, felt like a bit of a filler. The service was very slow and we spent 2 hours in the resteraunt in total. Had to keep grabbing someone to collect our plates. My family loves the Ivy, but next time I’m in Harrogate, I’ll pass.
What an experience, me and my partner loved every minute of it from the entrance to the minute we sat in our seat, we were well cared for staff are so attentive food was amazing and the room themed to the occasion. Thank you so much.
