About This Pub
Ah, The Horseshoes, what a lovely little spot in Nuneaton – it's one of those pubs where you walk in as a stranger and leave feeling like part of the gang. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the staff are top-notch, always up for a chat and making sure everyone's looked after, which really sets the tone for a relaxed evening. The events lineup is brilliant too; think quiz nights, darts, and quirky theme evenings that keep things lively without being overwhelming, and it's great to see them pitching in for charity – adds a nice community spirit. The beer garden's a real winner for those warmer days, and being dog-friendly means you can bring your furry friend along for the fun. On the flip side, though, the food's a bit basic – mostly snacks and nibbles rather than a hearty meal, so if you're peckish for something substantial, you might end up disappointed. Plus, no reservations and no big sports screenings could be a downside if you're planning a group outing or wanting to watch the match. All in all, it's a solid choice for a chilled drink and good company, especially if you're local or nearby, but it's worth knowing its limitations to set your expectations right.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The staff are absolutely lovely and make you feel right at home, with their friendly chats and quick service that really adds to the welcoming vibe.
-
It's got that real community feel, with fun events like quiz nights, darts, and theme evenings that bring people together and make every visit memorable.
-
The beer selection is spot on, with a great range of well-chosen drinks, and they've got a cracking beer garden for enjoying a pint on a sunny day.
-
It's dog-friendly and supports local charities, which gives it a warm, heartwarming touch that makes you want to come back.
-
The atmosphere is calm and nostalgic, perfect for a relaxed night out or a quick catch-up with mates.
Cons
-
Food options are pretty limited, just things like batches, scotch eggs, and crisps – no full meals, so if you're after a proper dinner, you might need to look elsewhere.
-
They don't take table bookings, which means it can get busy and you might have to grab a spot where you can.
-
No major sports channels like Sky or TNT, so if you're hoping to catch the big games, this isn't the place – though they do accommodate freeview options if you ask.
-
Some things, like waiting for certain snacks or missing features such as the old booths, can make it feel a tad outdated or slow at times.

It was a little difficult to pinpoint exactly what makes The Horseshoes such a lovely pub to be in but the little wave of nostalgia reminded me that it is everything that made a pub trip so good back in the day, great selection of well chosen drinks and snacks, friendly and attentive staff and a warm and welcoming atmosphere and, let’s face it in this cost of living crisis, who wouldn’t love the chance to win a bog roll during Happy Hour! 🍻
One of the best locals in Nuneaton by a long shot, family run and so welcoming and friendly. Great beer garden and always a lovely night out.
Love this place. Quiz nights, darts, a chilled drink, dog friendly & the atmosphere is calm and lovely. Miss the booths in the window :(
Raising money for charity & theme nights make this a quirky country pub on the edge of town.
My go to place. Highly recommend
My partner and I loved this place. The friendly bar staff moved quickly despite it being busy. It definitely feels family owned. We ordered something exotic foods full stop who would have known we could have had zebra, ostrich, kangaroo, and crocodile in Nuneaton?! Although it took some time for the food to come out, it was super tasty. I would definitely recommend the loaded chips with crab; they were so yummy!
The drinks are not to be sniffed at either full stop my partner enjoy the Tiger beer and I had several gin and tonics. I think the mince pie gin is my new favorite.
We intend to come back and try some more of the exotic foods and possibly a fish or steak night.
Travelled up from Wales as my daughter was in labour, the pub was right by the hospital so really convenient, cracking beer choice and food was delicious, it was the first Wednesday of the month so had a choice of exotic steak, the elk was one of the best steaks I've had.
Will definitely pop in again when visiting my granddaughter. The staff were very friendly and helpful too.
