About This Pub
Ah, let me tell you about Lord Hop Micropub – it's one of those hidden gems in Nuneaton that really hits the spot if you're into your real ales and ciders. From what I've gathered, they've got this brilliant selection on tap, often featuring brews from smaller, independent places around the country, and they've even scooped up some prestigious awards like CAMRA Pub of the Year, which speaks volumes about their commitment to quality. The staff come across as genuinely friendly and knowledgeable, always up for a chat, and the atmosphere is just right – think cosy nooks upstairs and a fire going on those nippy evenings, perfect for settling in with mates. It's affordably priced too, so you won't feel like you're splashing out just for a good pint. On the flip side, though, if you're not mad about cask ales or fancy something like a wider range of keg beers, you might find the options a bit narrow, as a few have pointed out it's not ideal for lager drinkers. There've been mentions of it feeling a touch insular at times, especially if you're new to the scene or visiting from elsewhere, which could make for an awkward first visit. All in all, it's a solid choice for us who appreciate a proper pub experience, but it's worth going in with the right expectations to make the most of it.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The beer selection is absolutely spot on, with a fantastic range of real ales and ciders that keeps things exciting for us ale enthusiasts.
-
The atmosphere is lovely and welcoming, with friendly staff and locals making it feel like a proper community spot, plus that upstairs area and cosy fire on chilly days add a nice touch.
-
It's won some cracking awards, like CAMRA Pub of the Year, which shows they're doing something right and consistently serving up quality brews.
-
Prices are really reasonable, so you can enjoy a pint without breaking the bank, making it a great spot for a casual catch-up.
Cons
-
The keg beer options can be a bit limited, so if you're after more variety in that department, you might find yourself wanting more.
-
It's not the place for lager lovers, as the focus is firmly on real ales and ciders, which could leave some folks feeling a tad short-changed.
-
There might be a slight cliquey vibe at times, especially if you're not a regular or from the area, as a few have mentioned feeling a bit out of place.
-
Opening hours can vary, particularly on bank holidays, so it's worth checking ahead to avoid any disappointment if you're planning a visit.

Great service as always. Would love it they had more choices on keg and different variety (abit like elbow room in Hinckley)
Popped in for a couple of pints on the way to a beer festival. A couple of excellent pints on cask one was local. There's a fire for when it's cold, the atmosphere is great and locals seem friendly.
Great micro pub with a good choice if beers. Plenty of seating with an upstairs area as well. Staff very friendly
A former shop repurposed as a micropub. Small, friendly, and offering a range of ales and ciders. Normally has 3-4 ales from breweries (often smaller ones) all around the UK. There is also normally 5-6 ciders on offer. Not a place for lager drinkers. A good place to visit for a decent pint.
Small gem of Nuneaton. Nice location, easy access as in town centre. Have cool variety of cask & ales but really missed keg stuff on tap. Apart of that, great atmosphere, not nice vibes as we were outlanders coming from London so most of people looking at us strangely 😝 same as bar tender. Seems like Outlanders r not warmly welcome 😆. Nice seating on top storey. Anyhow we enjoyed our time there.
