About This Pub

Ah, The Holland – it's one of those pubs in Kensington that really hits the spot for a proper British meal and a good chinwag. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the food is where it shines brightest; people are going on about their Sunday roasts being spot on, with juicy beef or veggie options that leave you satisfied, and little extras like spiced crab on toast or miso potatoes that add a fun twist. The drinks menu is another winner, with a solid selection of wines, ales, and cocktails that pair nicely with the grub. It's got that warm, inviting feel, perfect for nipping in with friends or even the dog for a relaxed afternoon. The staff seem genuinely chuffed to be there, offering quick and friendly service that makes you feel looked after. But, let's be straight, it's not all roses – there was that one tale of a rubbish Sunday roast with overcooked meat and gritty veg, which sounds like a right letdown, and it might take a bit longer than you'd like for your food to arrive sometimes. Still, with an overall rating hovering around 4.6, it's clear most folks walk away happy, and I'd say it's worth a punt if you're in the area, just maybe skip it if you're after something foolproof. All in all, it's a solid choice for a bite and a bevvy, as long as you go in with realistic expectations.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The food is absolutely top-notch, with standout Sunday roasts that folks rave about – think perfectly cooked meats, delicious sides like miso roast potatoes, and great value at around £25.
  • It's a cosy and welcoming spot, ideal for a relaxed catch-up with mates or a date, with a warm atmosphere that makes you feel right at home.
  • The drinks selection is brilliant, featuring an interesting wine list, changing cask ales, and fantastic cocktails – perfect for a cheeky tipple after work.
  • Service is spot on; the staff are friendly and attentive, making sure everything runs smoothly without being over the top.
  • Being family and dog-friendly adds a nice touch, so you can pop in with the little ones or your furry friend for a bite in this lovely part of Kensington.
Cons
  • There can be inconsistencies with the food, like one disappointing Sunday roast where the meat was overcooked and the veg was dry – not what you'd hope for.
  • Wait times might drag on occasionally, as one person mentioned waiting over half an hour for their meal, which could put a dampener on things.
  • The hours are a bit limited on Mondays and Tuesdays, closing early at 10pm, so it's not ideal if you're after a late-night hangout.

Quality and cosiness without the noise of High Street Kensington. Suggested for a friend get together or a date. Lovely cute spot. Went extra and enjoyed a bloody mary.

👎 Disappointing Sunday Roast experience 👎 worst Sunday Roast ever!!! ⚠️ I visited for a Sunday Roast, and honestly, it was a letdown. The meat was overcooked and chewy, the vegetables were dry, and the 🥕 weren't even properly cleaned – I could taste sand! It took way too long to arrive (over 30 minutes for a roast?) and the dessert was tiny for £10, plus it didn’t taste freshly made. As a pregnant woman, I found the unclean veggies concerning. I won’t be coming back, and I wouldn’t recommend it.

Really fantastic Sunday roast venue. My starter of spiced crab on toast was delicious, it just elevated the crab. The ruby red roast beef was insanely tasty, and for £25, great value. Some of the best roast beef cooking we've ever had. Solid accompaniments, strong roast potatoes and great carrots. The blackberry negronis are recommended. Only slight caveats were that it seemed a touch rushed and some things were brought to the table before others were finished. But something easily fixed and overall still a great experience.

We visited The Holland for a Sunday roast this weekend. We are both vegetarians and found the veggie roast to be fantastic. We also had really lovely bread to start and excellent desserts. Coffee and mocktails also great. The service was very attentive and fast. It was a chill vibe and lovely way to spend a Sunday lunch. Would highly recommend.

Absolutely outstanding. The food was so delicious and well seasoned, my chicken breast was cooked to perfection and my friend loved his meal too (he had the hake). Such a perfect balance of flavours and textures. Miso roast potatoes and grilled caesar salad sides are a must. Atmosphere was warm, inviting & relaxing. Front of house staff were attentive, welcoming and extremely accommodating to my dog. Happily recommend here to anybody!
