About This Pub

You know, if you're after a proper British pub that feels like a home away from home, The Hesketh in Cheadle Hulme is one I'd happily recommend to mates. From the reviews I've seen, the food really steals the show – those Sunday roasts are spot on, with tender meat, crispy potatoes, and all the fixings that leave you feeling properly satisfied. The staff go above and beyond to make sure you're looked after, and the warm, cosy atmosphere, complete with live music, makes it a top choice for everything from a casual drink to a big family bash. It's got that genuine pub charm that keeps people coming back. On the flip side, it's not all perfect; a few folks mentioned the soup being a tad too peppery for their liking, and the vegetarian dishes didn't quite wow everyone, though they were still alright. Overall, it's got far more going for it than not, so if you're in the area, it's definitely worth popping in for a pint and a bite – just go in with an open mind and you'll likely have a great time.

Some time ago we had an important family celebration. We decided to have dinner at The Hesketh in Cheadle Hulme. I booked a table for over 20 people and I was not disappointed. We all left full and happy. Delicious food, great value for money. Atmosphere and service very nice and friendly. We had a great time there. Thank you. I recommend this place to everyone both for family celebrations and for everyday lunch, dinner and going out with friends for a drink/beer. Friendly place for children and animals.

I had the Sunday roast beef at The Hesketh Arms, and it was absolutely fantastic. The beef was tender, perfectly pink in the center, and full of rich, savory flavor. It was served with all the traditional trimmings: golden, crispy roast potatoes, buttered seasonal vegetables, a giant fluffy Yorkshire pudding, and lashings of thick, homemade gravy. High recommended .

I visited this Sunday and was treated to one of the most satisfying roasts I’ve had in a long time. The atmosphere was everything you'd expect from a cozy British pub—warm lighting, friendly chatter, and the comforting smell of roast dinners in the air. The roast itself was outstanding. I opted for the beef, which was perfectly pink in the middle and tender throughout. It came with all the traditional trimmings—crispy roast potatoes, vibrant seasonal vegetables, and a Yorkshire pudding that was both fluffy and crisp. The gravy tied everything together beautifully, rich and generously poured. Service was attentive without being overbearing, and the staff seemed genuinely passionate about what they were serving. The portion size was generous, making it a great value for the price. I paired the meal with a good berry cider, which complemented the roast nicely. If you're looking for a classic, comforting Sunday meal in a relaxed setting, The Hesketh hits the mark. Highly recommended for anyone craving a traditional British roast done right.

We visited the Hesketh on Christmas Day as a family of four. The adults found the soup starter to be a bit too peppery for our taste. For the main course, the vegetarian option was delicious, especially the sides, though the tart was less impressive but still edible. My husband and kids thoroughly enjoyed their turkey dinner. We missed out on the champagne sorbet between courses, but it wasn’t a big issue since we were already quite full. Overall, we were pleased to spend Christmas Day at the Hesketh, and appreciated that we didn’t feel rushed.
