About This Pub

Ah, The Heroes of Waterloo – it's one of those places that really stands out in Ashton-under-Lyne for a good old pub vibe with a twist. From what folks are saying, the food is a real highlight; imagine tucking into a tender steak or some delicious dirty fries that hit the spot every time. The team behind the bar and in the kitchen seem to go the extra mile, keeping everything running smoothly and making sure you're well looked after, which is just lovely for a casual get-together. That bottomless brunch deal sounds like a winner too, with plenty on offer for the price – perfect for celebrating with mates without breaking the bank. But, and it's only fair to mention, it's not flawless; one review mentioned a spill and a dip in quality on a return visit, which is a bit of a shame after such high hopes. Still, with an overall rating pushing 4.4, it's got more ups than downs, and I'd reckon it's worth popping in for a pint and a bite – just keep an eye out for those busy days to avoid any hitches.

Pros and Cons

  • Based on the reviews, it might not always hit the mark, with the odd negative experience standing out against the mostly positive ones.

Recent Reviews

Recently went back for a second visit for the bottomless brunch I was really looking forward to it as the first time we went the food was incredible and the drink was perfect. The service was even better. UNFORTUNATELY all seems to have changed -My friend had a pink cocktail drink spilt all over her and I do not recall her receiving even an apology. We spend the next 20 minutes trying to dry her jeans in the Toilet losing 20 minutes of our drinking and eating time. -I asked the Bal lady if there was any pork on the menu when she requested if we have any dietary requirements I was advised no there is no pork at all on the menu. Shortly after two pizzas turn up with Palmer Ham all over them rendering a good chunk of the bottomless brunch food unable to be eaten by me. -The food is really gone downhill now there is no chips and there is no pasta dishes and the menu items at this time I felt were much smaller He ended up having to order extra food as members of our party were still hungry I definitely don’t think we will be returning here The cocktail drinks were nice until they were poured all over my friend And the Prosecco was warm We had to ask for an ice bucket, but it was pretty pointless. All it was doing was retaining the warm temperature of the Prosecco. THE REVIEW BELOW IS MY ORIGINAL REVIEW : Fabulous bottomless brunch Well worth every penny The girls behind the bar can’t do enough for you They bring out plenty of drinks on a regular basis. There is no scrimping and saving here they really want you to have your moneys worth. The food is great comfort food as well and plenty of it there was loads left over to take home a little box. Really good pizzas Tasty fries nachos everything was really really good. I would definitely recognise this place for our bottomless brunch venue. They have great indoor and outdoor seating Dog friendly and dog safe as it’s closed off. This pub also has parking so drove and left my car overnight

I visited this pub-restaurant on a busy Sunday afternoon and, despite how full it was, I was pleasantly surprised by the overall service. The staff remained attentive and friendly throughout, and our food was brought out much quicker than expected, which was appreciated given how busy the place was. The prices were very reasonable for the portion sizes, and the tables were quite comfortable, which made for a relaxed atmosphere even amidst the crowd. That said, there were a couple of drawbacks. The haddock and chips I ordered were unfortunately quite disappointing. The fish was overly oily, which made it difficult to enjoy, and took away from the overall meal. Also, the restaurant itself is on the smaller side, so it can feel a bit cramped during peak hours. Overall, it’s a good spot for a casual meal with decent service and value, but perhaps not the best choice if you're looking for a more spacious setting or certain dishes. There is also an outside seating area.

Food was 10/10 as always! Never had a bad meal here. We ordered tandoori chicken dirty fries, steak, mushroom and ale pie and a side order of onion rings. The steak was so tasty & tender. I would definitely recommend it! The staff are so attentive, hard working & serve you with a smile. Lydia made sure we were looked after and nothing was too much trouble. Our dining experience was 10/10. Thank you Lydia!
