About This Pub

Ah, let me tell you about The White Horse – it's one of those pubs that just warms your cockles the second you step inside. From what I've gathered from the buzz around it, the beer selection is an absolute highlight; they've got a cracking range of ales and brews that are thoughtfully chosen and kept in tip-top condition, which is always a winner for us beer enthusiasts. The staff really go the extra mile too – they're super welcoming and make you feel like you're catching up with old mates, plus the owner is known for being helpful and quick to respond, which is a nice touch if you're booking a room. And speaking of rooms, the accommodation sounds like a proper treat, with clean, spacious spots in converted stables that offer a cosy escape after a long day. It's all set in this charming courtyard attached to the pub, giving it that authentic, historic feel without feeling stuffy. On the flip side, though, it's a bit of a shame that the operating hours aren't easy to find, so you might end up wandering around if you're not careful. Prices are pretty standard, which means it's not a bargain basement option, but you get what you pay for in terms of quality. Overall, if you're after a friendly local vibe with good drinks and a place to rest your head, I'd say give it a go – it's got that heartwarming pub charm that makes you want to come back for more.

Pros and Cons

Pros
  • The beer selection is spot on, with a great variety from local breweries like Vale and Church End, and they keep things fresh with regular rotations.
  • The staff and owner are incredibly welcoming and helpful, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
  • It's a proper traditional pub with a cosy atmosphere, complete with crackling fires, and the accommodation is clean, spacious, and highly praised for its comfort.
  • Being close to Leighton Buzzard railway station makes it super convenient if you're popping in for a pint or staying over.
Cons
  • Operating hours aren't clearly listed anywhere, which can make it a bit of a faff if you're trying to plan a visit.
  • Prices for drinks and stays are about average, so it might not be the cheapest spot if you're watching your wallet.
  • While the reviews are glowing, there aren't many recent ones shared, so it could be worth checking for the latest vibes before heading over.

Great traditional pub, good selection of beer at an average price. I've not stayed but friends have, and say it's great.

Without a doubt this is the greatest accommodation experience I have had or likely ever will. All of the staff, as well as the owner, are the most welcoming and hospitable people I have ever met! The beers and ales are thoughtfully selected and regularly rotated. The cellar and lines are fastidiously maintained. Yes I was given a special tour. It has a wonderful ambiance and the regular patrons make you feel welcome. Lots of friendly chats to be had here. And much history to be regaled with. Rooms are clean, cosy and comfortable. The beer garden is spacious and inviting. You’ll miss a wonderful countryside stay in a gorgeous little village if you choose elsewhere.

Now under original management (Oct-24). Beer still good - from Vale, Church End or Humpty Dumpty (Norfolk) often lately. TT Landlord also now available most of the time. Good old wet-led side-road local - and B&B available too..

I am travelling frequently for work to Leighton Buzzard. I usually do block booking shifts and work long hours, so I have no choice but to stay locally. The White Horse is my little found germ. The owner is super nice, always helpful, and unlike others, he always replies to emails in a timely manner, which gives me peace of mind. During the past year, I think I have stayed in every single room by now and never have been disappointed. The rooms are always spotless clean. During colder months, the heating can be switched on if you wish. Beds are always clean and comfortable to sleep on. The pub attached does not stay open until very late, so you don't get drunken people shouting or disturbing your evening. In fact, the court yard is a lovely addition if you just wanna chill outside or have a smoke/ lone drink before bedtime. The yard is also gated so it makes you feel quite safe and away from the busy town centre. It's quiet, and also, due to the gated yard, you'll can have a window open all night if you wish without feeling unsafe. There is always a parking on the road close by to the accommodation and just outside the pub there is an Italian restaurant. Besides that, there is a small convince store and a kebab place less than a minute away. In the room, you have small TV, always get clean towels, enough toilet paper and your own kettle if you wish to have a hot beverage. Highly recommended 👌 👍
