About This Pub
Ah, The George Eliot, what a lovely spot it's turned into since the big makeover – it's like they've taken all the best bits of a traditional pub and given it a modern polish without losing that welcoming heart. Folks are raving about the friendly staff who know their stuff, whether you're after a refreshing local ale or a hearty meal, and the prices are just right for a casual night out. The beer garden's a real treat too, especially on a sunny day when you can sit back and watch the world go by. On the flip side, some of the seating might feel a bit high for those of us who prefer something a tad more comfortable, and it does get lively in the town centre, so you might need to plan ahead if you're popping in at busy times. Overall, it's a solid choice for a relaxed catch-up or a family meal, and I'd say it's well worth a visit if you're in Nuneaton – just go with an open mind and you'll likely have a great time.
Pros and Cons
Pros
-
The refurbishment has given it a fresh, warm, and cosy feel that keeps the traditional charm while feeling brand new.
-
Staff are incredibly friendly and knowledgeable, making you feel right at home from the moment you walk in.
-
Prices are spot on – drinks and food are reasonably priced, with some great deals that won't break the bank.
-
They've got a fantastic selection of local cask ales, premium lagers, and other drinks, plus tasty food options that hit the spot.
-
The spacious beer garden is a real hidden gem, perfect for catching up with mates or enjoying a quiet pint outdoors.
Cons
-
Some of the seating is a tad high, which might not be the most comfortable for folks who aren't as spry anymore.
-
It can get a bit busy in the town centre location, so you might have to wait for a table during peak times, though that's just the nature of a popular spot.

Beautifully renovated, surprised at the prices of drinks (in a good way), very friendly staff. Having never been in here before, looking forward to visiting again and trying the food.
Great to see that one of Nuneaton's oldest and best loved pubs is open again. Nicely decorated, although some of the seating is a little high for those of us who are no longer spring chickens. Also pleasant to sit outside and watch the world go bye. Reasonable prices and good service.
Great place. We went as family of 3 with a 7 uears old daughter, we didn't even know this place existed as a restaurant, thought it's just a hotel. But they have a very spacious restaurant and bar with outdoor garden also. The prices were great and the food was tasty. There are deals depending on the day. On a Sunday you can get a sunday roast with a drink for £13.95, not many places offer that in town centre. We will definitely return. You can also watch sports inside like football on sky /bt premier league /champions league and others.
First visit since its reopening and refurbishment. Excellent service from a knowledgeable barman. Had local Church End beer which was really refreshing and light. Shall return to sample food in due course.
I can't tell you how please I am that the George is re-open.
They have had a facelift since I was in here last. The pub itself is looking good. It doesn't seem to have lost the warm and cosy atmosphere either which I love. I had a chicken burger and fries. Food came out quickly considering it was rather busy on a Friday afternoon. It's hot and tasty and relatively cheap. Waitress, fairly young and possibly new was cheerful and helpful.
I did get her name but good job.
Good mix of drinkers, eaters and a guy doing his crossword. 10 out of 10
